"Tell me something about yourself". This is indeed one of the most common question to be asked during an interview and it is often the first question that the interviewer asks. The best way to answer this question is to prepare for it well in advance. We must plan how are we going to answer, how to start and what all information to be included. In my opinion, we must start by introducing our family and ourself, our educational background, our work experience (major achievements in each of the organisation worked for), our strengths and weaknesses.

Good answer but i dont think there is any need to talk about your family as it is none of there business. They basicly want to know what experience and education you have and what you like doin that relates to the job.

but if you think about it it doesnt matter if you have the highest class of family and all good deeds done in it the child can still turn out to be a rotten egg, especially these days with the worped school systems, and even the kids who dont have a good upbringing are sometimes better than the others as they have really learned respect and arent spoiled.

most of the organisations are interested in knowing the family background as they can get to know the type of upbringing the candidate has been through. So I still feel that one should give proper introduction to one's family during interviews.

This moment is very confusing for me too:-( I allways feel strange: somebody infront of me tests me and i must convince him that i am ideal one. Usually i hate to promote myself or even to talk about myself to somebody who is a stranger for me:-(

say what the interview wants to hear. just be confident, that would be the key for you to get the job. even if you aren't that confident, just act like one, it would really help.:) try to do a little research about the company that you are applying to, and when you have the opportunity to speak, try to include what you have learned about the company it will impress them that you did a research and it will appear like you are so ready for the interview and responsible.:) just give your best in everything. do over do it though. i mean dont give answers which you know would put off the person who are interviewing you. and do not act like you are too much confident. this will irritate the interviewer and fail you instead!heeheeheh
