worry about everything or learn to trust in God. Worrying is so easy to do, it is natural to worry because of our sinful nature. Learning to trust in God is hard work, but very worth the time and effort. Trusting in God should not be hard, but we make it hard. I heard it takes more energy to worry than it does to trust in God, so why do we make it so hard? It should be easier to trust in God but our flesh fights against it, because we are use to worrying, we are not use to trust in our Creator. But when you sit and think about it, He created us, so that means He is more than able to take care of us. When someone on earth invents and creates something, we know he has the knowledge to fix it when it breaks so why not trust in who created the object. Same with God the Father, He created us, so therefore is more than able to fix us, keep us well and bless us in everything. Wow that is an awesome thought, I'm going to have to remember that daily. I write these thoughts down to help teach myself because I'm on a mission to gain knowledge so I can be set free from my sinful nature and live a victorious life in Christ Jesus.

Doesn't sound much like you are trying to gain knowledge but rather trying to justify the inconsistencies of religious belief. Trusting in anything that you cannot prove should be very hard, it means you must surrender your ability to think critically. It means that someone else is actually doing the thinking for you. Now how about changing subjects, this Christian stuff is getting old on myLot.

Good answer, THowell. oldiebut If you read the old testament you will see how Christians gained power in Rome. It is all in their. I'm not good at explaining detail to detail but if you really want to know read the bible.

I suppose I should then respond with pity for your gullibility. What harm is there is just leading a good life? Many christian religions make the claim that you only go to heaven if you accept jesus as your saviour. So, no matter how good they are in life, Buddhists, Atheists, Agnsotics, Sikhs, Wiccans et all are damned simply because they don't follow your belief system. Yeah that sounds fair. And you have the gall to claim I am putting Christians down? Ever had the crap beaten out of you by a roving bunch of agnostics? Can you claim the reverse is not true? At least all I am doing is discussing it. What is Christianity's history for dealing with non-believers when they are allowed to hold political power? I guess we are done with the knowledge part, it is now clear you are not looking for knowledge, but rather, as I said, justification. Save your prayers. let's play a what if and say the Christian god is real. You expect me to pay homage to a mass murderer, liar, pschological trickster who is more interested in having someone sacrfice a goat to him than he is in actually helping his creation. Further, acording to Christian mythos mentioned above, people like Einstein, Jefferson, Franklin, Darwin, Steve Allen, Stephen Jay Gould, Carl Sagan, Isaac Asimov, Clarence Darrow, H.L. Mencken (I could go on for some time but you should get the picture) will all be in hell. Send me to hell, given a choice between these gentlemen and Jerry Falwell, Peter Popoff, Jim and Tammy Bakker, George Bush, et all. I would prefer to be in hell. At least the discussion will be interesting. I have read quite a bit on religion, I have never found a god that I consider worthy of my faith. Well no doubt you will come back with a prayer for me again. I am pretty much done. We live on different planes of reality, leave it at that.

You are absolutely right providing the person believes in God, if they don't they won't listen to this at all. Don't forget that. Having said that, I will tell you something about my personal experience and what a friend said to me that helped me tremendously. I was worrying about my son, he was in some trouble. And a friend of mine said I thought you believed in God? I was surprised and said you know I do, he then said then why haven't you given this to the lord and stopped worrying, I began to say but... he said there is no buts about it, either you believe he will help or you don't, if you haven't given this problem to the lord then you don't because you don't trust him. You simply can't have it both ways, and say I am giving it to the lord but I am still worrying. I thought of the logic in what he said, and I thanked him for it. I try to remember what he said every time I am worried now.

I do put my trust in God. The things I can't change I give to God to deal with. So I do not worry about them anymore. But the things that I have the abuility to change I do worry about. I am a person who is depressed. Depressed people tend to worry alot. Not that they want to. They can't help it. I take mecidines. That I believe God has provided for me to help.

I have been a depressed and a negative person all my life, but I'm trying to let Jesus change my personality to a positive person. I'm so tired of myself being negative. It has hindered me so much in life.

A quick suggestion for you. Modern depression is much better understood than it used to be. It is often the result of a chemical imbalance than can develop in your brain. this is particularly true as you grow older. I would seek the advice of a doctor, there may be something he can do for you. I just happened to have been treated for depression for about 6 years now, my body does not produce seratonin any more but I have been fine under the care of my doctor (Paxil, a pain to get used to but a life saver, my depression manifested in chest pains).

Thank you for sharing this, it was truely a blessing to read it. There was a popular song a few years back that said, " If you are going to pray, don't worry and if you are going to worry, don't pray." One definitely cancels out the other. Trusting God can be difficult when you are first getting to know him. But if you have faith and give him the chance, he will surely prove himself to you. I have heard it recommended that Christians should write down all of the things that the Lord as done for them, brought them through, and blessed them with. That way, whenever something new comes up, we can pull out that list and remember his faithfulness and trust him again. The Lord has brought me through so much, that it does not take me long to bring to mind the ways that he has blessed me and saw me through. I thank God for his goodness in my life. We have to always remember that the battle is not ours, but his alone.

You know it seems I can remember the simplest things that God has done for me and I had gotten the biggest blessing out of more than big things He has done for me. I never heard that song before, it is so true.

I love your discussions! Trusting God should be easy because as you said it takes less energy than worry. I read on a marque last week, "To worry, is show lack of faith in God." Now isn't that so true! I know we would be so much better off physically and emotionally fi we could just turn these situations over to God and let HIm be in control. God does know what He is doing. IT is our sinful nature to worry but each time we want to worry we need to tell God we are giving it to him and we need to stop thinking about, until the next time we think of it and then do the same again. It is a continual learning process on our part.

God has given us the freedom to choose to worry or lean on Him. You are right that it takes lots less effort to lean on God, so why do we keep giving God our burdens and then turn around and take them back? I don't know. I am a Mrs. Fix'It. I want to fix things myself and I keep having to remind myself that God is in control and He will take care of this. I do not have to keep carrying around this burden, I have to give it to God and get out of His way. I commend you on your mission to become closer to God. God bless you.
