why do people post under interests that they "don't enjoy"

I've seen this happen lately, members posting under an interest, bashing that interest, then wondering why people are getting mad? For example, I don't really care for dogs, I don't mind them but I'm not interested in them. So I don't go under the "dogs" section and post "I hate dogs, they smell and lick people in odd places" and then reply "I'm just stating that, don't get mad!" Why oh why do people bother doing this?

I think ive seen it once on here, but i agree what is the point in posting in your disliked interest, i mean its blatently them holding a sign saying "im here for a fight" its soo stupid and i dont get it

I haven't seen this happen. Now I am curious and need to go read up on things to see what is happening. I don't know why people do that kind of stuff. If they don't like it, why post?? The only reason to post to a topic like that is if someone is asking " do you like dogs or do you not" ?? KNow what I mean. I feel your frustration.

I know, why would a person post if they don't like it-makes no sense to me!

Maybe some people just want to start a discussion and can't think of anything, so they go to stuff that doesn't interest them. I don't start many discussions because I can't think of anything or someone else has already started one on the same topic, but I won't start a topic that I have no interest in.

Sorry about that, I don't understand why people respond to discussions that they have no interest in either. I won't respond to a discussion unless I have something worthwhile to say.

I'm talking about replying to interests that a person doesn't like.

That is a great question. I've posted on threads, and people bash the issue discussed specifically on that thread! It doesn't make sense.

Drama AND confrontation. There are a lot of times that I just can't hold back and respond to their responses and it's an on going 'battle'. I'm a sucker for those, especially on issues I feel really strongly about.

I suppose because they are staying on topic, the way people define it here, even if the response is in direct opposition to the people who are discussing it. Plus it seems that bashing seems to be tolerated and even encouraged by a few who enjoy ganging up on others. And those who enjoy being contradictory in order to get a lot of commentary on their responses. I feel that the negativity and bashing both are upsetting and discouraging.

Doesn't seem very bright to me but I guess everyone's intitled to their own opinion.Seem's to me we should in fact look at it that way and just sit back and collect the money we get for the response.Maybe this is their way of helping everyone out?

I am not sure, either. There are many people who are "crazy" enough or love to do "silly" things in this world. Or perhaps, they would like to get answers from people who know about the "dogs" stuffs but myLot doesn't have a "dislike" section (LOL). Other possibility is that it is only joke..... Or perhaps, they want to make the group go "mad" and see what would happen. You know... one of such "crazy" people will do.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to post under interests that you aren't really all that concerned with, IF you can do it politely. I know I've responded to discussions that I didn't agree with. I state my reason for disagreeing, and never put the other people down, though. I agree, though, that there are a lot of people that just put anyone down that doesn't agree with them. They jump in discussions that are all about something different than what they believe, and go through and put everyone down. And that's pretty uncalled for. I don't ever take offense to someone disagreeing with me unless they do it rudely, though.

I've done that too, like things like abortion posts, it's just the people that do it so rudely!

Cos myLot attacks us with those stupid screens "Would you like to add X as an interest?" They are so annoying so I am sure a lot of people on here just add all the interests every time they come up. However, for example I can't add "Parenting" and "Being a Mom" as I don't have a child (although I am an uncle so I do respond to many of the discussions), and I am not a mom either cos I am a man, but I don't have a child. I think those windows get annoying cos once I give my answer they STILL keep on asking me. It is annoying to say the least. Getting back to your question, yea it is annoying when people bash the question. If I don't know how to answer or I have no idea what they are asking I just don't answer. It is probably best to do that since these people don't like whatever you are posting, so don't post, right? Pablo

Either they are doing it to deliberately antagonise people, in which case i have no idea why people do things to deliberately antagonise people, or maybe they have run out of things to say about stuff they are interested and in order to keep earning money they popst about stuff they aren't interested in? I really don't know!

I too have seen this happening a bit lately. These people in my opinion need to get off the computer and get some daylight as their brains are not working anymore! :) It is disturbing to see this kind of behavior on here or anywhere. It is senseless and just leads to arguments over stupid stuff most of the time.

I think people are just trying to get the number of postings up. But it's wasting everyone else time. I also hate it when I post a discussion and someone replies with "Well I don't know anything about that so I don't have any advice for you". If you don't have anything good to reply then don't waste my time ya know?

Hopefully they are just trying to stay "on topic" and post under the category that is most related to their post. I don't really see a problem with it, if they don't do it looking for a fight. If they are looking for trouble, then that stinks. If they are just looking for opinions, or debates (not flame wars) then I think that's okay. Not everyone has to post that they love dogs just because its under the dog section!
