Do you tap your fingernails on things to tell what they are made of?

I noticed today that I am a tapper. When I see drinking glasses in a store I always tap them to see what they are made from, plastic or glass. Same with vases. Do you do this or is it just me?

Yes, I do this.
You can tell pretty quick what something is made of this way.
