Do you tend to pray for yourself or others?

I tend to pray for others than I do myself. Until I came on MyLot I was spending a lot of time on Pogo. And I have met friends, through them saying something, and I would tell them I would pray for them. I am a prayer warrior for my church as well as here on MyLot. I have even started a prayer request on my profile, but haven't had a chance to add all of the prayer request yet. So do you pray for yourself or others more?

I pray for others and myself. I know God wants to take care of me and my asking Him for help shows my dependance on God. I love interceding for others. I know there are times that we just don't feel we can' pray for ourselves and that is when I want to be there to pray for them. From one prayer warrior to another, God bless you.

Thank you for responding. Yes, it truly does show our dependence on God when we take it in prayer to him. Because we are going to him in Faith, knowing he will take care of whatever situation we bring before him. God Bless you too.

I pray for all. I pray specially for those who are having trouble. Prayer helps you as well, even when you pray for others. It gives so much satisfaction when you pray for someone and the prayers are accepted with positive outcome. In school, the day starts with a prayer and that is a very good thing to happen. At home also, the day starts with a prayer and ends with a prayer.

Thank you for responding, I have to agree with you there, especially giving so much satisfaction when you pray for someone and the prayers are accepted with positive outcome.

I pray for my parents first, then others. Last is me, but that is just how I learned to pray. Sort of like the Christian Christmas song J-O-Y. Jesus first (praying in thankfulness) Yourself last, and Others in between. So that is kind of how I pray.

Thank you for responding. I like that J-O-Y. Never thought of it that way before, but very true.

I pray for both myself and others but I much prefer praying for others and each time am so blessed. I know from experience how prayers work so when I can play such a small part in helping others that is the blessing for me.

There are many many who need prayers and most will not ask for them - I've found that when I do my best praying for others is when I have a need myself (such as the one you responded to earlier). I often set out to find others in need and find it easier for me to pray for them because I know I already have others praying for myself.

Thank you for responding. Prayer is powerful. When I started this discussion, I just knew that I come across many that need prayer, so I tend to pray for their needs, but I do also pray for myself and family.

I pray for other people first, and then myself last. I think it is best to honor other people because when we help other people we get helped in return, at least that what I believe. Pablo

Personally I think until a person is really going thru something Financially or Medically themselves, they continue to Pray for others more than themselves. In the Bible it teaches you that it is better to Pray and reach out to others as well as helping yourself. So I am constantly asking Prayer for others, or adding them to Prayer lists etc. Just sometimes it is ackward when you hear someone talking about something they are going thru, and tell them you will be Praying and they almost wish you would not.

Prayer is all I have with me specailly when am alone. Most of the time I do pray for others. Some of them I don't even know. I pray in general and I don't care but I include everything. I am not a preayer warrior in our church yet I consider myself as a prayer warrior.

hi terri0824! it is written in the Bible to "pray what is in your heart" and "ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you"... that's why i always pray for myself and less unto others. praying for yourself is praying what is in your heart. if you pray for others but don't mean what you say, it would be useless...

Thank you for your response. I agree with you that you have to pray from what is in your heart. But I do always pray from the heart whether it is for myself or for others.
