Fun in the sun at the Scout Show...

Today was the Pinewood Derby and Scout Show for our District. WE had a lot of fun in the Park. Our Pack took 4th Place in one category and and Best Looking Car in another. We were pleased. Have you ever attended a Scout Show or Pinewood Derby in your area?

I am not a cub scout but a girl scout and we did a powderpuff derby one year. Now I have never been one to try any type of wood working craft, but I tried my best to help my then 7 year old daughter make one. there were only two girls from our troop there and there were only two cars that did not cross the finish line!LOL We were still very proud of our car. My daughter did most of the work herself, with me only doing what she was too young to do.

Pinewood derby car - This car was a favorite among many for it's design and the fact that the flag looks tp be waveing in the breeze.
Congratulations to you both for making the powderpuff car. We stress here about the boys making the cars. Of course we know the boys cannot do the saw cutting but they can design, sand, paint, glue and all that jazz. We have always had some really cool looking and unique cars at our pinewood derbys.

Bothe my grandkids were in Scouts. My grandson's Scout troop held both a pine car and a pine boat derby. Lee had soome very unique cars. One looked like a tank since his daddy was a soldier at the time. That has been afew years ago. He still has the car too.

We have a scout that has been collecting his and they are encase in a clear plastic container and displayed on the mantel. What a great way to encourage and celebtrate a childs creativity don't you think? He brought one to scouts to show the new Tiger cubs a finished car so they would be able to visualize what could be done. He was so proud and they were so awed. He prompted the other boys to bring past cars to show and tell.
