Conditional love

A friend of mine got me starting thinking about this the other day after Jerry Falwell's death. He was an awesome grandfather, very loving and doting and kind to his grandchildren. But he deeply hated gays and pagans and feninists. What if one of his grandchildren had came out about being on of the above? Would he still have loved them as much as he did, or did his love only come because they lived their lives according to his ideas? Of course we'll never know.
But what about you. What if someone that you loved, a family member or friend, admitted to being someone or living a way that you hated? Would you still love them as before or would your love be conditional?

I'm not sure about that dude but I would still love that person I believe.
But I'm not that judgmental because I honestly think that everyone has their own path in this life and things they've got to experience and learn. And I honestly believe that to each his own as long as they're hurting no one. Now if they were - then that love would definetly be tainted.

This is a really hard question. For one thing, I can't think of any way of life that I hate that isn't actually abusive. So of course is someone I love was abusing someone else, it would change how I felt about that person. I mean, I don't particularly love my family members because they abused me.
Short of actual abuse, I can't think of anything that could make me not love someone I love. I've had friends go down the wrong paths before, or even become prejudiced against things that applied to me (my religion, my sexuality) and I still loved those people.

I have always given unconditional love. I guess that is why I love my pets so much because they always give unconditional love (no price tags attached). I would never love anyone less for the reasons Jerry Falwell was so outspoken in his hated about. I have always wondered how Jerry Falwell could be thought of as a man of God....what happened to love thy neighbor?
