Hi man...i think you should go for compaq presario... It has really good models in the range you have mentioned....You can easily get compaq presario witht he following configuration... Dual Core processor 1.8Ghz Speed 512 MB RAM 80 GB Hard Disk 14" Screen DVD Writer... There are some sites like mouthshut where you can find reviews about all the products...just select any model and read the reviews on mouthshut.... Bluetooth .. One more thing compaq presario has Altec Lansing speakers...these are really the best...i think there are also some schemes if yo make a purchase before 31st May...you will get one bluetooth, reliance internet card and some other stuff... Let me know if you need any further information...

I don't know what your preferences are, so I pretended I was shopping for myself, and had a look around. Here's one that made my mouth water: http://www.nextag.com/Smart-Buy-HP-Compaq-515488519/prices-html Three major points about this machine are: 1) It has a Core 2 Duo processor. After AMD's brief moment of glory, these bad boys turned the game back over to Intel. Ever since then, AMD has been on the ground, taking hard kicks to the ribs and chunky, green loogies to the face. 2) It has a numeric keypad. I don't know if you have any use for the 10-key keypad, but I use them frequently. 3) It has Windows XP. At some point in time, Microsoft may find a way to bypass Vista's "content protection" and offer HD support, and there will almost certainly be a sufficient supply of hardware drivers for Vista in a year or two (or three). But for now, best to stick with something that you already know works. "If it's not broke, don't fix it." :) Your preferences may well be different from mine, but I hope I've given you some idea of what to look for.
