The Worst President Ever!

Jimmy Carter has made a statement that is unprecedented in history. Never before has an ex-president stated that a serving president is heading the worst presidential administration in history but that is just what he has said. http://www.komotv.com/news/national/7592052.html

It doesn't matter what Carter said because he has no room to criticize anyone. Bush has accomplished far more in his presidency than that idiot Carter ever thought about doing. You are from Thailand...I was in the army and also was a civilian during the time he was president, and I remember the things he did and the kind of president he was, and he was the worst president that I can remember. He should go back to his peanut farm...at least then he would be around things that are at least as smart as he his. Carter was the worst, not Bush.

One small correction. I am not from Thailand, I am an United States citizen living in Thailand. I also did my time in the army, serving two tours in Vietnam. I am not trying to argue the relative merits of the Carter and Bush administrations. I do think Carter made two points that have merit and deserve discussion . The first was; "We now have endorsed the concept of pre-emptive war where we go to war with another nation militarily, even though our own security is not directly threatened, if we want to change the regime there or if we fear that some time in the future our security might be endangered," he said. "But that's been a radical departure from all previous administration policies." The second point he made and in many ways the one that concerns me most was; "Carter also offered a harsh assessment for the White House's Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, which helped religious charities receive $2.15 billion in federal grants in fiscal year 2005 alone. I welcome your comments on these two points.

Well it is nice to know that you are not just another foreigner taking potshots for kicks. There is a lot of that these days, and I tend to check profiles before answering a post now. That first statement has already been answered in another post where you asked the same question. Carter lied about the Us launching a pre-emptive war against Iraq. There was already a war with Iraq and a violation of a ceasefire was enforced. As to your second point, I don't know enough about them to even really comment. At first glance I would think that religious charities should not be getting government money. I suppose the argument could be made that a lot of useful organizations would then be without funding, but I would have to look into it. It would depend on what type of programs were involved...if it was furtherance of religion...no way should that be...if it is education or healthcare helping the poor, then possibly.

I think Carter needs to remember the old adage, "Those in glass houses...." A very strong argument could be made that Carter was the worst President of the 20th century, and perhaps of all time. I think he definitely qualifies as a top ten worst all time. In addition to that, Carter has gone out of his way in recent years to sully his name. He has given interviews overseas attacking our government, he has written books that have plagiarized material and have made up "facts" in them. The White House responded to Carter's criticism by pointing out how increasingly relevant Carter has become. I think the White House probably got that one right. --Andy http://politicalfriends.blogspot.com

Jimmy Carter is talking about worst administration ever?? The only thing I can even remember about him was that he always ate peanuts. Give me a break. He really needs to keep his comments to himself. If Reagan or someone of that quality came out and said something, I would buy it, but not Carter.. sorry. It actually makes me want to laugh he even has the audacity to open his mouth.
