It is really hard to learn English especially when it is not your native tongue. In my case, I learned it by reading a lot, watching English movies, and by listening to audio books. My advice is also for you to speak it everyday, when you can. myLot is actually a good venue for you to polish your writing skills, so just explore this site and you will notice will interest will grow as well as your skills. Keep it up!

hi,Gljeng, yes, reciting is a good way to learn english, but not the only way.we can practise our listening skills and writing skills by reciting.and for more,it is better to have dictations on listening materials, and do some reading to expand your vacabulary, those are also very important in learning english.
besides,i think everyone has his/her own way to learn english, different people like to use different methods, that depends you.what do you think?

I think other than reciting you may try also enhancing your english by listening. Say listening english songs wherein you have the lyrics and try to find out it's meaning then sing along with the tune. You may also watch english movies which more on dialogue with subtitles, it will enhance your english capability of interpreting what does the character say. You may also enhance english on reading, wherein once you encounter words unknown to you, you may try to find its meaning in a dictionary. There is also a way of enhancing your english through chatting with english speaking people so you may check your english communication skills if you can clearly speak and pronounce english words which found understandable to the person whom you are talking to, and lot more ways to learn english.

I do believe reciting a good way to learn a language. Reciting will no only help you learn vocabulary, structures which help writing a lot, it also improve one's pronunciation and intonation. But listening is equally important which is sometimes more important than reciting. If one can't understand what other's speaking, he fails the communicative functions.

Yes. I agree with you that reciting is a good way of studying English. Apart from that , some of the other ways are
1) Mylotting itself is a great way of learning English
2) Try to participate in as much discussions as possible.
3) Try to read more English books.
4) I don't know what is your mother language. Whatever may be, if you want to learn English quickly, try to use English even to THINK.
What else...! I will add if at all something else comes into my mind. All the best, once again.

The way I have been using when I wanted to learn a language was
1. Learning the new words in a text.
2. Learning to understand the text.
3. Listening to the text several times.
It was really efficient so you could try it.
