I know this is an OLD rumor. But my mom still believe it. She saw me in front of my laptop for a good 4 hours besides the time i spend in my desktop when im at the office. She said that im too much exposed with computers that she worries about radiation. i told her this is no longer true. But she wont listen. Am i really right, that monitors nowadays have NO MORE RADIATION? or do they still have? Are they really unhealthy?

I believe it too, the energy of the display can be harmfull. Most of us use protector screens or even have special glasses for computer work because of this.

Hello, abbyey,if you are using the LCD monitor, it should be fine as there will be no radiation from it.As you say you are using laptop,so you should have a LCD one. You do not need to worry anything about radiation but you have to concern about the long hours exposure to the laptop,it may not be healthy at all, therefor,it is important to take a rest when your eyes feel tired.

yes its really true these rays harm us only in eyes, because there are too much pixels they harm our eyes directly so we use anti glare screens in our monitor screens. they protect us from these rays.

At the time IBM released their 386SX computers there was A LOT of radiation coming from the CRT monitors shipped with the computers. I experienced this myself, getting all red and warm in the face after sitting to long in front of the computer. CRT monitors may still have some radiation but i dont think its enough to get worried about it. But i do think LCD&TFT have even less radiation.
