Well, it looks as though Heaven Farm is off the menu again next week. Oh well, it's past bluebell time; all the ones in my garden have died back, so I daresay it's the same everywhere. So, we're going to do something that we haven't done for a couple of years now... we're going to The Dogs!!!:-) The Greyhound Stadium in Hove has a Sunday lunchtime Family Meet. So, my elder son being a great lover of greyhound racing, has suggested we resume this activity for the Summer months. That means both my kids and their families, and I, go down for the lunchtime Meet, which is free entry, have a chat and a drink in the bar, whilst putting small bets at the tote for each race. Some of the time we pool our money together and bet as a unit, and often come away with enough winnings to buy a take-away lunch. The kids like to play in the playground at the Stadium for a while, and then come back and cheer our dogs on. lol. It's great fun... I'm going to have to take some pictures to show you all. When the Meet ends, about 2.00 p.m. we go off to the KFC just down the road, and buy a Family Bucket or two, with sides, and we go to the beach, or Hove Park, and eat it as a picnic. Then, the kids can let off steam... well, me too... I can't be left out!!! ha ha ha. Sometimes, they'll take their kites, and a ball... maybe even a frisbee and we'll have a whale of a time, staying till about six, to six-thirty. If we go to the beach, I like to walk along the waters edge and see what I can find in the way of shells and special pebbles.:-) Sometimes, I'll sit and watch the boats on their way in and out of Shoreham Harbour, or if it's not busy, skim pebbles on the waves.:-) Kid at heart. Other times, I'll just join in with whatever the others are doing. A lot of laughter can be had when my kids get together. They didn't grow up either when it comes to recreation! ha ha ha So... the peace and adventure of Heaven Farm, will be replaced by the excitement of the dogs hurtling around the track, chasing a raggedy ol' rabbit, or hare, which always made me crease up laughing! My Dad used to put the television on for Wednesday evening's Sports Night when I was quite a bit younger, so that he could hear me laughing at the dogs chasing a raggedy hare. I never could quite understand why they should chase a lump of wobbly rag! ha ha ha. That was the highlight of my Dad's week, I think... chuckling at me with tears running down my face from the laughter at seeing that spectacle! Do you go to Greyhound Racing Meets and do you have any funny experiences?

I have been once years ago - my brother in law had had several winning dogs but doesn't do much now! He couldn't bear to get rid of the dogs and at one point had a huge run and large kennels for 8 greyhounds - it was just as well that they have a very large garden! He has had several heart attacks and now is not fit to race the greyhounds! I had a great time with you and your family this afternoon and would love to join you next time - only one small point - could we go somewhere besides KFC next week? lol xxx

Yeah! What do you fancy? One time we went back to Brighton Marina and had a "Much as you can eat" Indian meal. I think it was close to somebody's birthday, and the grandchildren loved it, that you could go up and choose what you wanted. lol. Your brother must have had his work cut out for him with eight racing dogs. They need a great deal of exercise during their racing years. I hope he's keeping as well as he can. It's always such a knock-back when somebody so active gets hit by heart attacks and strokes. Here's a ((((HUGGGG)))) for you to pass on. Brightest Blessings my friend. xx

They didn't all race at one time but when they stopped racing he couldn't bear to give them up - luckily they had 3 kids adopted 3 and have had lots of foster children over the last 26 years to help with the exercising! He still has 2 but they have not raced for quite some time! Luckily he has now become involved in Politics so that keeps him going! I will pass on the hugs from you when I see him! I think the Indian munch sounds fantastic - we really enjoy that in our house! xxx

Lol no I have never been and I don't think I ever will go to one as it is not my Cup of tea lol Same as Horse Racing is not either Well I have never seen the point in them chasing a rag either like I do not see the point in a load of Men running after one ball when you can buy them in the Shops cheap enough lol

I'm not too keen on horseracing. Somehow, that seems more cruel to me. I know they're used to having riders on their back, but the whips, I don't like and also, if a horse falls at jumps and breaks his leg, he gets shot. Sorry, but I can't handle that! Dog racing is much lighter hearted. They rarely get any more injured than pulling a muscle and they really seem to enjoy the chase for the hair, so I can handle that... in fact I quite enjoy it. Don't get me on football, cos I was brought up amongst it... my Grandad took me to my first match when I was seven years old, and all the males in my family have played or play football. So, I really got into it, and I love the game. I like rugby too, funnily enough, but then, we all have our likes and dislikes... sobeit! Love and hugs x

I love it... we only put £1 a time on the dogs, each. If we pool, we have £5 to put on between us, so the winnings end up better. We often do that on the last race of the meeting. That was great, getting the job you were waiting on! Well done!
