Do you watch the NEWS often?

If so, what news do you watch and do you feel depressed afterwards? Do you wonder why the news only shows death and destruction for our eyes and ears to see and hear? Why does the news only show 'news' about celebs and hardly any good news? Do you think this is a sort of mind control of the masses?

I watch the news every morning as I am getting up and the kids are getting ready for school. So, in the beginning, I do not hear it all. But yes, something will catch my attention and I find it to be disheartening or sad. :( Worse part, is we hear so much bad news that is begins to de-sensitize us as a society. So when you heard some horrible tale, it is not as shocking because we have heard it a 100 times before. But truly, it is not less saddening. I still feel for the parents, sisters, brothers, wives, husbands, and children. These people have families and sometimes it upsets me that the reporters can be so heartless!

Good things don't sell, we had one news channel which in their early days like showed stuff how someone became 90 and celebrated her birthday with a lot of friends and family; how some cancer patient got cured; how the fire dept. saved a kitty from a tree; etcetera. Hardly anybody watched since it's something they always just ask for but when it's there they say it's not news. So the channel became more serious as well since they wanted to have a good set of viewers as well of course. Myself I don't really get depressed by watching the news, the stuff simply happens; something you should be able to see in my opinion, and if you can't it's time to take an active stance to help out since things would be going too far.
