Do you wear aprons to clean or cook?

I am getting ready to make a whole new set of aprons. Some will be for wearing while cleaning and cooking the others are for working in my studio (I am a ceramist and it gets messy). Do you ever wear aprons?

Yes. I started using one about 2 years ago. For some reason I'd always associated aprons with my grandmother's generation, but after getting grease and tomato sauce spattered on some nice outfits while cooking a few times, I began to see the practicality. When I actually set out to buy one, I couldn't find any that were thick enough to stop stain causing liquids from getting through. I ended up sewing 3 aprons together, so look like quite the eccentric when I'm wearing it.

My problem is I can't find any I like so I bought a pattern and will make my own. since I have a ton of material I can use I have a variety of aprons to use. I need them when I am cookng and clening but also when I am working with my ceramics. I get covered in dust while cleaning greenware.

It's actually hard to find a decent apron. I would like to wear them but to find one thick enough is almost impossible. I'm going to have a find a decent pattern and make them myself. Know where I can get a nice pattern?

the one I bought was at walmart (and JoAnn's) It is Easy Stitch 'n save by mccall's number M4958. It has three different styles in it. I really like it cause it gives me length options.

In my home ec class in jr high we had to make our own apron. Cutting out the pattern, fabric and sewing it. Aprons keep the mess off your clothes and since I am not the cleanest cook I need one.

I have aprons but I never think to put one on until I splash something on myself.

I wear them on occasion when we are baking. My daughter and I have matching Pooh Bear aprons- (My cousin made for us a couple of Christmas's ago). My daughter gets a big kick out of wearing her apron- She makes a mess to- usually with the flour- If it is just me baking or cooking- I never wear one. I have never worn an apron while cleaning either. I don't think it would be comfortable. I can see wearing them when doing ceramics- that would be messy! And I've never made my own apron.

Matching Pooh aprons how sweet! I bet she just loves to wear hers. I have found that there is wisdom to wearing aprons. Having worked in bakeries for 7 years (when I was in my twenties) I never gave it a second thought and just grabbed it and put it on. After coming in coated with ceramic dust or slip I decided that I was going to wear aprons even though that stuff washes right out I don't like it all over me lol!

Sweetdesign,I wear aprons sometimes because it is easier to have the phone, tools etc in my apron. If I'm working outside it's easier to have what I need handy instead of trips back to the house.Of course sometimes it's to keep my clothes clean because I can be sloppy doing things.
