Customising your mylot profile - gets you more visitors?

I've been visiting other members profiles here at mylot and notice how great they look theyve added html and links to their favorite websites i tried to do the same but cant see how to do it. when i try to add html it just comes up as html code the not the links or pics. can anyone tell me how to do this and if theyve found customising their profiles has helped them get referrals for their programs, or web visits for their sites. do you advertise your my lot link in search engines aswell? thanks for the advice in advance
