I have been thinking of a chocolate fondue for quite some time. My daughter Amy has told me a couple of times how she had a couple when she had friends in .Her friend served a chocolate fondue when we were out to her place. She had used melted Mars bars. I was kind of disapointed , it was more caramel and nugat then chocolate. So yesterday I went shopping and decided it was time for a fondue of my own. I started wtih a package of Jersey Milk chocolate bars and a container of mixed fruit. Today we went looking for recipies, there didn't seem to be real simple ones. So I ended up melting 3 broken chocolate bars, about a half cup of chocolate chips, and a 1/4 cup to 1/3 cup of sweetened condensed milk. I melted this 30 seconds at a time in the microwave . I think we got about a 1 cup and a half of sauce to dip with. It was pretty good ,but I am still going to be on the look out for a better recipe.

I compromise with myself to eat a piece or two a day so I don't feel deprived, but on the other hand, I don't eat so much of it that I feel bad about myself and end up gaining weight from it. Right now I am tempted to raid the fridge for chocolate pudding. I don't buy them very often as they are expensive and fattening but they taste good.

So I trust you are having great fun with chocolates now? Or have you got bored of this new plaything? :P
I am not sure about where you are but here, we do sell pockets of ready ingredients for the fondue. Perhaps they might be more expensive than if you make it up yourself. I am not sure.

We have fondues every now and then, love having all the tropical fresh fruits to dip into the chocolate, we have bowls full of strawberries, rockmelon, orange, blueberries, bananas, pineapple and of course apple...but you can't forget the marshmellows and other sweets to add as well :)

I scooped up my mother's fondue pot when she was doing a purging of "stuff". With it was a handwritten recipe. We made it and had a fondue party with fruit for my daughter's birthday. Then my sister gave me a package for Christmas. It is a Hershey's fondue dessert. All it is is a big hunk of chocolate that you melt for the fondue.
The recipe I have is as follows:
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tbsp. corn syrup
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/3 cup 2% evaporated milk
3 oz. semi sweet chocolate chips (1/3 cup)
In sauce pan stir together sugar, corn syrup, 2/3 cup of water, bring to a boil. Simmer 8 minutes until reduced by 1/4. Remove from heat.
Whisk in cocoa powder until smooth. Return to heat, add milk, bring to boil. Simer 3 minutes. Remove from heat; whisk in chocolate chips until melted. Pour into fondue pot and keep warm.
We had this with various fruits.

Hi, this is a real simple recipe and it's yummy:
2 Minute Chocolate Fondue Recipe
Ingredients:
12 ounces good quality semi-sweet chocolate
2/3 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
3 tablespoons Grand Marnier or Amaretto liqueur (optional)
Bite sized pieces of fruit or cake
Directions:
Combine the chocolate and heavy cream in a medium heavy saucepan over medium-low heat. Stirring constantly, cook for about two minutes, or until melted and smooth. Add the vanilla and liqueur. Serve with the fruit and cake.
Enjoy!
