What is the best time of the day for a toddler to take a nap?

Is it in the morning or afternoon? Would it make a difference? Sometimes I don't want my son to sleep in the afternoon coz he sleeps late in the evening and he plays a lot! He becomes so active.

I'd just follow whatever he chooses to do. My son usually naps in the afternoon after lunch. He has never had a problem going to sleep at night, even if he had a four hour nap! The key is to go to bed at the same time everynight ;)

My daughter does better with a nap right after lunch (1:00 - 1:30). She only sleeps for an hour and a half to two hours. She has always been an excellent sleeper and would ask for her nap every day. That is, until about 2 - 3 months ago. She turned 4 in January and is fazing out her naps. So whenever your son takes his nap. . .enjoy the time to yourself! :-)

The nap time of every children differs fro the other and i think the nap in the afternoons is the best and it should be between 1:30 and till 5:oo in the evening as elders say children sleeping in the afternoons makes them healthy and helps them active and makes them fresh to play in the evenings and as they play lot in the evenings they sleep early in night times. My son usually gets up 8:30 in the mornings and sleeps at 2:00 in the afternoons till 5:30 in the evenings and he falls asleep at 10:00 in the nights.

My son usually takes a nap about 4 hours after he gets up. He naps for about 2.5-3 hours most of the time, and then is up for another 6-7 hours before bedtime.

in my case, my son will take his nap at 10am and wakes up at 12noon then in the afternoon, he'll be taking his nap at around 4pm and would wake up at 5:30.. But he will be sleeping at night mostly at 7:30pm
