Okay I love to take photos of most anything and I travel with my camera daily wherever I happen to go. I have posted many photos in my discussions, responses, comments, and mostly in various interest categories here on myLot. Now I have told by many friends here and other members that these photos that they have seen are really good. Some have even suggested that I see about selling them or enetering them in contests. Now I'm lost as I don't surf many sites for photo sales etc. So what I'm asking is a few things. Can anyone give me links to sites that I can post photos on for sale? I prefer to sell them from online as I post them. I have no idea the format they use as far as sales and am looking for a LOT of help here. Sites that give ideas as far as what sells best online. Sites that may tell me what a certain picture is worth. Also does anyone know if I sell the photo as I post it or are they sold as prints that I have to supply? Do I turn over all rights to the photos as their posted or when their sold? See what I mean? I am totally lost and have a thousand questions. Please help out? Thanks in advance. A sample of an animal shot is attatched. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Hey Bob - I've wanted to do the same thing but as of yet really haven't done much but 'look around'. But your photos are far better than mine for the most part... I have signed with two sites so far that provide photos for other people to purchase or download - you upload your photos to their site and they pay you an amount anytime someone downloads one or more of your photos. Each of these are a little different as to rights and privaliges and I haven't had time to really get those straight in my mind yet but you may have better luck. http://www.fotolia.com/partner/291887 http://www.canstockphoto.com?r=27029 I have a list of some others but haven't checked them out at all yet.

I'll be looking into these also faith. Thanks. How much is the payout? Does it depend basically on the content of the photos? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I am not an authority when it comes to photo Grandpa Bob but I really think that your photo are indeed very good. It does capture something that is beyond the photo such as the sunset that you took. Not everybody could take good pictures and I am really positive you could make something out of your hobby. Wouldn't it be great to earn for doing something that you just love doing? That would really be cool. However, I regret to tell you that I am as lost as you when it comes to selling photos on the net. I am looking forward though of the information that you would be able to gather regarding this discussion since it would help me too if ever I want to sell some photos. Goodluck and keep it up!

While I don't know much about the business end of it, I think publications like Birds and Blooms pay 100.00 when they put your photos in their magazine. Also, every state has a travel guide and they pay you for your' photos that show the beauty of your state. Calendars are another great idea for your photos. With your talent I would think that you could sell many, many calendars. You could do that online or in your local shops. Good luck! You have a gift!

that's a great idea I have personnally signed up with dreamstime - it's free for photographers - they re very selective and not all the pictures I submit are accepted but they tell you why they reject them and sometimes you can "retouch" the pic digitally so it fits their criteria they pay 25c per upload if you want to sign up with them , please use the link on my webpage : http://iamhere2help.mysite.com/custom4.html thank you and good luck

Another one is deviantart.com. Its an artists community so you can post and be inspirred with like minded artists and there is also a function to where you can sell your stuff. There is a yearly fee, but I know a lot of people who have sold their work on there. Good luck :)

sorry I forgot: about your questions you don't have to sell the rights if you don't want to - but you can set your own price if you want - you jusdt upload the picture online and that's it, no physical support don t worry the condition with dreamstime is that the pics are JPEG saved at the highest quality .

Bob, You can license your photo through a stock agency, or direct to the company. Because you are licensing your photo you can license it more than once. You own the rights to your photos though. You may want to copyright your photos. http://www.copyright.gov/forms/ You may want to pick up a copy of Photographer's Market, which includes a huge list of photo publishers. Another option is to build a website and sell your photos on there. You can get about $10 - $50 per image.

You can try selling here: http://www.stockxpert.com/?ref=iya_b Or try this site: http://www.dreamstime.com/res350386 I don't sell photos there but you can if you're a photographer. ^_^ If you sell artworks or graphics you can sell them there too. ^_^

Well GP Bob, loved the attached photo of yours and rated it too :) But this discussion is valuable to me as I'd like to start selling my own fotos as well, so thanks for starting it so much ;) And are you able to sell yours, and on which of the sites have you placed your own photos? Any suggestion for me? Thanks again and have a nice weekend ;)
