What do you do with your baby clothes when they are outgrown?

Do you save up each piece of clothing your child ever wore? Do you get rid of them at a Good Will or other thirft store? Do you sell them at consignment shops, garage sales, online sales, or other selling markets? Do you give them away? I save the special occasion clothes that I am not ready to give up yet, and some other outfits I want to save for the next baby. I then try to sell what I can for pretty cheap and the rest is given to neighbors or friends with little girls. I tried the consignment shop before, but they are not that friendly in my neck of the woods and rarely buy anything because they can't sell the junk they have bought from their friends in the past. SO what do you do with the baby clothes once your little one has grown out of them?

Almost all of the clothing that the children outgrow in this household is donated unless it is stained up or ripped in some way. I don't usually handle this process so I am not sure what else is done with the clothing after I put into a box marked donation. My fiancee handles all of that. But I wanted to share something I heard about. Why not have a quilt made using some of your childrens clothing? Take some special outfits that the children have worn over the years to use to make a quilt. My fiancees aunt did that for her.

Those wuilts are beautiful and amazing! I am saving a few pieces for that. My quilting skills are minimal, but I can't wait to give her a crazy quilt with embroidery and pictures and memories of her cute little outfits. That is why I set them away. Thanks for the reply!

I save a few outfits from each stage for my next little boy, but the rest gets passed on. First to my nephew, then to my friend's son, then to a coworker's son, then to my aunt's soon-to-be stepgrandson. There are so many babies now, it isn't too difficult to find someone who needs quality baby clothing. I know how hard it was to make ends meet when my son was born, so I like to help other moms out when I can. Blessed Be

I love doing that too. I know a few mommas that are stuggling to make ends meet and I like to give them a few outfits to help out. CLothing is expensive even if you find it at a yard sale. I like to think it gives them more money to put food on the table.

Oh absolutely. Every dollar helps, especially when baby food is only a few cents a jar!

We really don't have a lot of room for them, so we usually send them to a consignment shop or Goodwill. It was tough giving them up, but we had to make room for her new, older things! We did keep some of her unisex stuff though. It's just hard to keep girly stuff when you don't know what your next baby will be!

It is hard to plan like that. I keep the girly stuff and if we end up having a boy, I am going to try and trade or sell for boys stuff.

I've kept all of my sons baby clothes, we're definately going to have at least one more child so I want to save them in case we have another boy. I have them sorted by size in rubbermaid bins, like newborn, 3-6 months, 6-9 months, etc so when I'm tired and prego the next time it will be a bit organized ;) I did take good care of his clothes so most of them look brand new. After I'm done having kids, I'll donate them to charity. I've also kept all of his cloth diapers!

I kept all the cloth diapers too. They are too expensive not to keep.

I had 3 boys, so when my first born outgrew his clothes, I saved them for the next and the next. After a certain age, the boys were so hard on the clothes, that I would throw them away or donate anything that was salvageable. Then I had my girl. I saved very few of her special outfits for when she has a daughter. I am sure that she will not be thrilled with this, but you never know. The things she outgrew as an infant and toddler I sold in a garage sale and actually made a good amount of $$ as they were very nice clothes and I marked them very cheap. Now she is 7 and for the last 2 yrs and I have offered her clothes on freecycle. They go immediately and I think that the person who gets them is always pleased.

I give my older daughter's stuff away as well. There just comes an age when kids are hard on clothing.

Give them to charity; or those who'd appreciate them. Once you've used them why sell them? Give them away.

I have saved some of them that were special. Like I saved his outfit he wore home from the hospital, his dedication outfit, etc.... Then I've saved some for if we have another baby. I've also sold some at the consignment shops. And we are going to be having a yard sale soon so I'm going to put some of them out then too.

outgrown baby clothes or old children's clothes are usually passed on to our relatives and friends who still babies or younger kids. other collected stuff are donated to some relief organizations or day care centers. but we do keep some memorable items of our kids in our closets. we love to see them awhile as we remember those earlier days when they were born.

I pass my sons clothes on to my neices for their children. We seem to have stair step children, the clothes don't always last through the last children, but I get my moneys worth out of the clothes. I am glad that I am able to help my neices this way. They are all single parents and money is very tight, so anything that my son can't wear anymore, goes into a box in his closet. When it is full, we pass it on.

I go to www.mommyauctions.com for baby clothing (to both buy and sell). It's a fairly new site, but I have met some great moms and stuff does sell. It's time to get rid of the clothing if you are not going to be using it soon. :-) Try it out.

All our baby clothes [my brother, mine and my little sister's] are passed on to relatives who have babies. They aren't that much well-off, so it's our way of helping them.

We never throw our little one clothes and I have heard from our ancestors that childrens cloth are not to be thrown. Infact I have one year old daughter I have her clothes to my friends because she need it, she is pregnant. It is good that if you can give the clothes to the person who really cares for clothes and needy one.

So far I haven't gotten rid of too much. I've passed some of the older girls clothes along to friends and family. I passed a few of my oldest son's thing along also. I've saved their more special outfits and some of the things that I really liked. My youngest 3 are all boys and a little less than 4 years apart so I have everything from them still. The youngest is 6 months old so I just now am starting to have outgrown things that definitely won't be used again. I haven't decided yet what to do with them since they are the sweet little newborn clothes. I think those are the hardest to get rid of.

i don't have kids yet so sorry won't be able to give a good answer. i think it's best to pass it on to friends who don't mind hand me downs. for new parents, the high cost of having a baby usually hits hard. so any help is appreciated! also, babies grow out of clothes so fast that they tend to be new, and still very waerable. pardon the ignorance, but what's a consignment shop? like a salvation army shop?

I just do any of the below mentioned things. 1)i just give that outgrown clothes to the poor people. 2)i just use it as a cloth for cleaning the halls, kitches etc. of my house. 3)sell it for a lesser price and gift that amount for some social cause.
