For myself I prefer writing with a medium point. Fine point, goes through me, just like finger nails down a chalk board. But my favorite would be a gel medium point. What is your favorite type of pen?

Thank you for your response. I have tried using fountain pens before, but you have to hold them just right to use. So I don't use them.

Fountain pens aren't as easy to find as they used to be.

I prefer to write with black ballpoint pen. I like using the fine point which makes my hand writing to look more decent. I like to use the black medium ballpoint pen to affix my signature on documents. Sometimes I would like to practice my big word chinese calligraphy with chinese writing brush.

Thanks for your response. It's hard to believe that this discussion is still getting responses after a year!

I like the best respone one - that was a good one!!! Other than that though, I like Pentel R.S.V.P. blue medium point. That has been my favorite for YEARS. But, for a Christmas present, my boss bought me a Monte Blanc pen to go with the pencil I received as a graduation present from his wife (kinda). It came with black ink - which I don't care for at all. I'm trying to use it up quickly so I can get blue ink for it.

I don't have a good habit of handing out best responses, but when I read it, I couldn't resist giving it to her. Thank you for your response. I'm just use to black ink since that is all that I can use at work!

I tried to post a reply and got this message: "unable to post content. please modify your text to only include letters, numbers, and standard punctuation. " So if there is a duplicate post, that's why. I like gel pens most of the time but there are some types of paper that they won't write on. I like darker inks like purple, dark green on of course black.

My favorite type of pen to use? One that works! Yes, I have the problem that it never fails when I reach for a pen it's going to be empty, dried up, or dismantled in some why shape or form. I've even tried hiding pens from kids and grandkids so they don't murder them before I use them but it didn't work - they found my stash.

yep, a working pen. Happened again just last night - I called my niece to get my sister's new phone number but got her voice mail. Left a message for her to call me back - no understand, when I first called I had a pen in my hand. Half hour later she called back but I had to turn the room upside down to find a pen and it be one that worked.

I just gave you best response for this one too! I like your witty response to this discussion. Not a response I was thinking about when I posted this discussion. But I did find humor in it.

I write with a biro type pen, our bank give them away as a freebie but I would prefer to write with a fountain pen. When I come to think of it I do very little writing these days it is usually done on the computer using word

I've tried a fountain pen before but never mastered the technique of using one. I know my mother used them growing up. And you are right, we use our computers more and more and write with a pen less and less!

I like the same kinds of pens that you like. I'm having a hard time finding my old favourite felt tip pens, but for now the gel pens are a nice substitute.

You are right about the fine point pens and the noises that they can make. Gel pens are my personal favorite, the new ones from Bic are really cool, especially the metallic ones. If you want to check out a really cool pen, look for the Cross Ion. They are expensive but write so nice.

Thank you for responding. Thank you for the suggestion. I had my office manager order me a couple of gel pens last week. She gets me a dozen of them. They are gel, but appear to be a fine point gel. Ugh....now I am stuck with a dozen that I really don't like.

I like a roller ball fine point, or a fountain pen if I can find one that does not leak and I have always had trouble with those cartridges. I like to have something that looks elegant when I write, and I do not like writing like I did at school. I rather like the English or European style of writing that is more like half printing and writing than doing that cursive stuff.

Definitely would be fine point for me. It writes easy and more clearly. Especially in blue ink!

A broad tip gel pen because I am heavy handed when writing. Since the advent of the internet it seems we write much less. Oh, yes, we do need to sign our income checks!

Medium point for me is definately the Best. I really Hate Fine point, as unless you are using sturdy paper it will usually end up ripping a hole in the paper. I also Love Gel pens, but find some brands are better than others as well.

Hi There, I would have to say a very fine tip pen. I have terrible handwriting so if the tip is too thick it makes it even worse. Fine tip seems to be able to help my handwriting be readable. I simply cannot use gel tip as my writing becomes so very bad. cheers,

This might seem like a trivial thing but finding just the right pen that feels good in your hand and glides across the paper without getting stuck or scratching or leaving globules of ink can be a challenge. Isn't it something how you find a great pen that handles well and then it suddenly dries up on you and you have to start the search all over again? Or you find a favorite pen and someone borrows it and doesn't give it back? I used to carry extra pens so that I could lend the one I was less attached to and wouldn't be disappointed if I didn't get it back. After all a favorite pen is a favorite for a reason and when you need a pen you need a pen. I like the ones that roll easily with ink that dries quickly.
