Hello, At some times when we are at deep sleep after a very hectic and tiresome day at office or at some other place, we get a phone at the mid night.. How do you feel about that ? Do you care to pick up and respond to it ? Or do you ignore it and see the number in the missed calls list and call them next morning ? Or anything else ? How do you react ?

My husband is a Platoon Sgt. in the army and I have no choice but to answer the phone because it could be a soldier or one of his commanders. The other night at 5:15 in the morning, we were woken by one such call. He had to leave and didn't get back home until almost 11 in the morning. I woke up too when the phone rang and I couldn't get back to sleep. But most of all I live far away from my parents and I want to answer just in case it is an emergency. If it is a frivolous call for no reason, I would get mad and tell them to call back at a decent time.

Yes. You have a great responsibility of attending the phone any time it rings, since your husband is in army. I understand, it might be irritating at times, but you have to. What to do ?

All I can do is answer the phone! hahaha! So, I am very patient with it, even though it makes me sad that it means less time with my husband. Most often he has to leave when his commander calls or a soldier has a problem. But it is ok. I understand this is his job and he is very good at it!

This happens to me all the time as I often have people call me and say they are not coming to work that day. Unfortunately, after this happens I have a really hard time getting back to sleep.

Thats one another problem with midnight calls! Your sleep gets disturbed , after which you hard to struggle a lot to continue with your sleep. (Its more trouble if you were in mid of some GOOD dreams ;) )

I am too scared that it will be an emergency phone call, why else would someone call in the middle of the night when most peoiple are sleeping? So I get up and out of bed to answer it with a racing heart. When I find it is just a drunk dummy with the 2 am dials that can't hit the buttons, I get irratated.

You are right. The midnight calls might be an emergency calls. But, whatever may be, it will either irritate you or make you worry.

Though I felt bad due to wake up by the phone, I would pick it up and respond it. Because I know my family well, no one would phone me at such time unless it was an emergency. I would be at ease if I didn't know what had happened.

I will answer it. I am always afraid if someone is calling me in the middle of the night that something terrible has happened to someone in my family.

I used to get late-night phone calls in my previous house, and in almost all instances it would be silence coming from the other end. I think whoever it was just wanted to disrupt my sleep. Thankfully the bugger would call before 2am, which is when I usually sleep.

If the hpone rang in the middle of the night it's unlikely we'd even hear it. We shut the door to the living room to keep the cat in, and also close (but not shut properly) the door to the bedroom. it's hard to hear even when we are awake, let alone alseep! I don'tt hink i'd answer it as by the time i got downstrairs it would no doubt have stopped ringing. If it then rang again i'd try and make it down as i'd figure it was urgent. It had better be, as i'd be furious if it wasn't!

My first reaction...i will say "wth". It will be very scary to hear phone ring in the middle of the night. It depends who call. If it's my friends i will answer it no matter how tire i am. If it's some unknown number i will just ignore and continue sleep.
