Do you have a toaster oven?

I have a regular oven, a George Foreman grill, all this kind of doo-dads but was wondering if it would be helpful to have a toaster oven. I see somethings that my microwave would not warm up very well. I do have a jet stream oven that might work just as well. I had forgotten about it. What is your opinion of a toaster oven?

I have one and would not be without one. It is very handy for smaller meals, snacks. It also uses less energy and does not heat up the kitchen as much as a regular oven. I do all kinds of things on it, not just snacks. I have cooked whole dinners. Great in the summertime. Nice when you are in a hurry too.

Our home gets so hot in the summer that I was thinking a toaster oven would help so much. Thanks for the posting.

I have a very large family sized oven for roasting turkeys. I use my toaster oven for roasting potatoes and other small dishes. A large oven is too much for cooking fried potatoes for one on a hot summer night, and it gobbles the electricity as well. Sense utilities are going up, at $30 dollars a toaster oven is a good buy if you don't have a piece of similar equipment in the home.

I have a toaster oven but rarely use it. It's a little too big to keep out on the counter too.

That is what I am afraid of. It will take way too much space on countertop. Thanks for posting.

We have all kinds of appliances at our house, too! The stove is probably the one we use the least. lol We use our toaster oven a lot. It cooks stuff faster than the regular oven, and stuff tastes better cooked in there than in the microwave. My 15 month old is pretty picky about what he will eat from the microwave (not that I blame him, I usually only use it to defrost stuff or heat up leftovers myself). The toaster oven saves us a lot of time and keeps us melt down free a lot of times, because of the time issue. You know how toddlers are when they have to wait! Another good thing about the toaster oven is that it doesn't heat the whole kitchen up during the summer the way that the regular oven does. It saves energy, too. We also use it if we are baking a couple different things, so that we can have the main dish in the regular oven, and then a side dish in the toaster oven. It seems like nothing that we want to cook together ever needs the same temperature, so it works out great.

I have a small toaster oven, and we use it almost daily. Mostly for well, making toast. :) Mine came with a mini muffin pan (can bake 6 muffins) and a small cookie sheet. I do use these when the kids want a sweet snack. I just take a slice of the pre-made cookie dough and place it on the sheet, then bake--usually a few minutes shorter than the recipe, because it gets hot, quick in that little oven. I also use it to cook burritos (the frozen kind,) chicken, and hamburgers. I found, I have to thaw them out, though, before cooking in the toaster oven. Otherwise, it's burned on the outside, but still cold in the center. Hope this helps a little for you! GOod luck.

I got a toaster oven a while back when natural gas prices went up. Since my oven is gas. I use it to bake biscuits and cookies, pizza, etc. Uses less energy. It also has the capability to dehydrate food, though I haven't used this function yet. You pretty much can use a toaster over, at least the type I have as you would an oven.

That is what I was hoping that I could use it like my oven. In order to save on heating up the entire oven for small things. Thanks for posting.

I used to have a toaster oven and I loved it. I used it more often than I used more than my microwave. My ex took it when we got divorced and I haven't had the extra cash lately to go out and buy a new one.

I was wondering if it would be useful like for my sub sandwiches that I make and put in fridge. I could just pop on in the toaster oven and yummy! Thanks for the post.

i dont have a toaster oven, but I have used my friends and I think it would be great to have one. You wouldnt have to heat up your whole stove to make your kid a few chicken nuggets. When I have enough in my pay-pal maybe I'll buy one.

I was just thinking that idea. It would save on energy and not heating up the whole house. Thanks for the response.

We have an oven toaster and a microwave oven. It actually depends on what you are cooking or reheating. For me,if I want to have a crunchy finish on my food like pizza, garlic bread , bacon strips, or even grilled finished like hotdogs and hamburgers I use to cook them in the oven toaster. But If I need to reheat meals like rice , macaroni, or the ones with liquid in it, like soup and noodles,I use the microwave oven. If you have some button adjustments on your microwave, just increase the power button, to the highest level so that there will be more heat power.

That is exactly what I was thinking on getting a crunchy or crispy edge using the toaster oven. Thanks for responding.

I used to have one, but I didn't use it often. I got rid of it and haven't missed it.
