Do you allow food out of your kitchen or dining room?

We used to eat in the living room and watch tv or the kids take food in their bedrooms, but when we moved into our new home, I stopped it! No food or drink is to leave the kitchen or dining room. It has made it so much easier to keep the rest of the house clean. And I do not eat near as much because I'm not sitting here on the couch with food and the computer. I have to get up and go get it and I don't want to get up then I don't get to eat. LOL

It is just hubby and I so we either eat in the living room or in our office. When my niece or nephew stay overnight they have to eat at the table. LIVE IN PEACE

Yes i do as long as if they mess up other part of the house they should clean it.. even removing the stains on the couch if possible.. everyone knows in our family that its provided as long as you take care of your food and drinks with you.

We have eating areas in the kitchen and dining rooms but still end up eating in the living room or the deck. I do want to try to start eating at a table again though. :)

My food all stays in the kitchen. With all my grandkids around, and if i would let them go all over the house to eat I would really have a mess to clean up. No one eats in my bedrooms or living room only the kitchen. That goes for all drinks to.

When I was growing up we were made to eat in the kitchen except for maybe popcorn at night while watching tv. Now I'm living with my dad and he eats alot in the living room. If the food is not to messy I let my son eat in their to but I try to make him eat in the kitchen most of the time. When winter is here I do let my son eat breakfast in the living room where it is warm. it gets real cold in the kitchen. When we have a big family meal wee all set in the kitchen and eat. But we do not always eat at the same time because of our schedules.

I tried that, but it seems impossible to stick with it. I let them take snacks and drinks in the living room when they are watching tv.

I stopped it and I haven't had a bit of trouble. Everyone knows and accepted it pretty easy. We all, including me, griped and complained at first. LOL Thanks for posting.

I allow it since its just the three of us. Sometimes my son and I would eat early and then when my hubby comes home from work he then has his dinner in front of the tele watching a program he likes to watch. When we have visitors then I tend to let my son eat in the lounge while us adults eat at the table.

That is how we used to do , we'd eat and watch our favorite tv show or movie with the kids in the floor in front of the tv. Thanks for posting.

Yes, we eat food in most places except for the bathroom, for obivious reasons, and the back bedroom, but mainly beucase that room is used for stroage untill we can afford to decorate it. We have food in the kitchen, living & dining room (living & dining are open-plan anyway). Also occasionally some sort of breakfast in bed in the bedroom, but not often, and of course various snacks in the middle bedroom, which is where i am right now and where the computers are kept! There is just the two of us, plus the cat, so no kids to havewto clear up after.

I used to allow food to be eaten in all rooms but i found several reasons to stop. lol 1. Eating on the puter and in front of the tv bedrooms etc leads to over eating. 2. Makes for more mess to clean up. 3. And someday i want to have a newer place and i dont want food eaten all over it. that is what the kitchen is for. 4. Food and drink also does a job on the keyboard on the puter too lol. 5. It also keeps you from eating on the fly so much when you have to stop and go to the kitchen to eat. I know it is easier this way with kids too.

My husband and I occasionally eat on the couch if we are home alone. We do not allow any food in our daughters bedroom at all not even candy. We have popcorn in the living room once in awhile if we are watching a movie.

We don't allow the children to eat outside the kitchen/ dining area. We do allow adults to eat in the living room. Mainly because when everyone is over at my house we all can't fit in the dining area all at once. So we decided that it would be ok for adults to eat in the living room. We each clean up our own mess so its not that big of a deal.

That's good that the adults clean up after themselves and are not messy. Thanks for your post.

I like eating in my room. If I had a little more space I'd put up a little dining table in my room so if something wrong happens while eating it won't be on my bed. I like eating in my room because I like to be in front of the computer while eating. As well, it's more private and I can really enjoy my food without having to worry about other people observing how I enjoy my food.

Yea my family eats in the living room, but we have bo be very careful. This is how it goes in my house. We have a chore list for everyone. We all have to do different chores. When we eat and your the one to make the mess. You have to do the chores the next day. So....... No one makes a mess.

That is a rule in my house also. It is just my husband and myself until the three grandkids come over. They do the same thing at their house so they don't kick about not being able to eat anyplace but the kitchen. We don't have a dining room. But it does keep the rest of the place cleaner when you only eat in the kitchen.
