are wisdom and intelligence different? if you think they are, which one is better than the other? If you are to choose only one, which one you'd rather have?

It depends on how you define intelligence since you have intellectual inteliigence, social intelligence and emotional intelligence. Wisdom would be that you can see which kind of intelligence is in operation in a person or situation. But wisdom means nothing for me without compassion.

yeah. we are talking wisdom and intelligence in general. i have seen a lot of cases where university/school students with good grades suffered depression because of reasons known to themselves. these are people with intelligence. i have seen a lot of poor people with no or less education who live happy, have families of their own, and still can send their children to school. they work hard but smart. i simply believe they have what we call "wisdom".

Intelligence for me is sometime that one can learn. If a person is extremely bookish and has various access to knowledge. Also those who practice what they have learned and being able to reach its perfection. Wisdom on the other hand is vast and limitless. The scope of wisdom can at times hard for those who are INTELLIGENT to understand because they use logical explanations. Wisdom is more of a GIFT from our creator. Wherein the understanding is more than what is written. Certainly i would choose wisdom over intelligence. :)

yeah, you're right. i noticed that most people who chose wisdom have learned a lot in life while those who choose intelligence learned a lot at schools or institutions. well, i think they're both essential to our lives. thanks Abbyey!

after giving a very long thought about this topic (and also growing up matured in Mylot community..LOL..), i think I've come to the conclusion that wisdom & intelligence are both important. they both coexist together well, like we human coexist with other living beings. so, if anyone choose intelligence, that's as good as choosing wisdom. And Urban, yeah, you're right about this "smoking" thing you're talking about. it takes both intelligence and wisdom to effectively kick this unhealthy habit. but in my case, i kicked this habit through DETERMINATION. maybe different people have their own ways to achieve something , eh?
