July 4th isn't that far away and it's one of my favorite holidays. Not only is it because it means that summer is truly here but I love the parades, fireworks, picnics and barbecues.
So far I don't have any plans that are etched in stone but there are always those tentative plans from the previous year. Living on the coast we get to watch fireworks from at least 4 other cities all at the same time and I find that awesome.
Has anyone made plans yet for their 4th of July? Do you usually spend it with just family, friends or both? Is there anything specific you like or don't like about the 4th?

It is going to be our first July 4th here in the USA so I am not sure what we will be doing. I'm sure there will be lots of celebrations in our area and downtown Washington DC so I hope we will take part in some of those. I am praying that my husband doesn't have to travel again which I was told yesterday he may have to, so that would mean he will be away during that time... so we shall see!

The 4th of July is my birthday and nothing really special happens here at home. I usually just stay home and do nothing. Every so often we get asked to a bbq but the whole effect is lost on me because I'm not a crowd person. I can't handle very large groups of people.

I'm sorry that crowds and large groups of people bother you. That's something that a lot of people experience and it can take away from a lot of good times for you. In case I forget or one of us isn't around...Happy Birthday...very, very early!

We (My daughter and I) will go to the parade, then a bbq at my dad's, then we will go to the riverfront and watch the fireworks. She will probably want to have a sparkler....lol........I really love Independence day!

The kids seem to always have such a good time at parades and the sparklers are always a big plus for them...actually I like them too..lol

We usually don't do much of anything anymore. The 4th of July is just another day to me. I know it should be more than that, but I really could care less. We dont do fireworks and we don't do cookouts or anything else. It's just another day.

A lot of people have been doing the same thing and feeling it's just another day. I don't see a reason why it should be more than that. It's just a summer holiday to some people and I just happen not to be one of them..lol

I will be working all day and have to get up early the next morning so I doubt if I will be doing that much. My fiancee will have cookout in our backyard. Then she buys some fireworks stuff to do with the children later on. I don't know if she has found out yet what nights the large towns around us will have fireworks yet. We will probrally try to make atleast one of those as well.

A lot of people will be working but I'm sure you'll find a way to enjoy it, especially when there are kids involved.
