I don't think there is the best birthday gift for everyone. I think it just suitable gift for the right person. You should know the person well, you know what does he like, then you could choose a right gift for him.

I enjoy receiving money for my birthday, because then I can thank the people for all the wonderful and creative stuff I get to do with it. Also, if I save the money in my "coffee fund" I can think the person who gave it to me, every time I go out and buy myself a cup of coffee.
