Another pharmaceutical scare

I can't speak for anyone else, but I am really miffed with these pharmaceutical companies that continue to place medicines on the market that they know have a risk of causing serious impairment to people's health. It's bad enough that they are sick enough to need the medicine in the first place-and then they are put at further risk by these unscrupulous drug makers. I know some people(even some in my famiuly) who have diabetes. I don't know of anyone that uses Avandia, but I hope and pray that no one that I know does. After scaring people to death, they then have the nerve to tell them not to stop taking the very medicine that might kill them! Go figure!

I know...and the FDA doesn't seem to care about the dangerous side effects many medications can give a person risk to...I have very servere joint pain at times...my doctor prescribed Celebrex, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication...before I get any prescription filled out I read up on it...well it turned out that Celebrex is in the same group as Vioxx, a medication that for awhile was pulled off the market but then placed back on...it seems that these medications can trigger off blood clots, strokes and heart attacks...so am I taking this medication...uh, no way...I don't want that risk

What I can't understand is that even doctors aren't aware of the risks...doctors have computers...everytime time a doctor wants to prescribe out a medication or a group of them he should do a check--one time I had bronchitis..he prescribed an anti-biotic and an asthma type medication...I went to the pharmacist..he took one look and panicked...he said the combination was a known lethal one!!!

I'm taking Avandia for diabetes, in addition to glyburide. I nearly screamed when I heard on the news last night about Avandia possibly causing people taking it to be more likely to have a heart attack, heart problems or a stroke. Just what I need. And then to be told NOT to stop taking it? Well, I've already put a call in to my doctor to see what she thinks I should do. I thought I was doing okay with my blood sugar readings before she added the Avandia, so maybe I'll be weaned off it. I sure hope so. I had to stop taking a cholesterol med I was on because of muscle weakness. I'm just glad that I read up on my meds to see what possible side effects they have, so I knew to contact my doctor when the muscles in my arms got weak. I'm on Crestor now, and so far have had no problems with it.

This is why my friends and I try to not take much prescription medication, those medicine can do more harm than good. Take birth control for example, I was on that pill because I was having difficult periods, and sometimes I wonder if there was another way because now I have to have mandatory Pap Smears every year to see if I have HPV or Cancer from the pills. I was on that for five years, can you imagine the kind of damage it could have done to my body? The FDA is full of it giving pharmaceuticals the right to patten these horrible medications. Also, my grandmother, she got Cancer from the Hormone Pills that she was on. Cancer from pills! The thing that was supposed to be helping her. Why? She does not have the cancer anymore, thank goodness, but it was Hell.

I had not heard about this until your post. I went and looked up the current information but would like more. My sister was on Avandia for a good year or more several years ago. She now has had several problems with her heart and I have to wonder if it's the cause. I'm really getting sick though of how they put out these medicines not caring about the long term effects. It is really scary. What happened to the years of testing they are supposed to do and the FDA is supposed to scrutinize? Are they just cutting corners and the FDA doesn't care or are they burying it all and again the FDA is turning a blind eye to it all? This is crazy.

It is amazing the amount of medication in the market that has serious side effects. I read the warnings on all medication I take and it scares me to know that what I am taking can kill me.

Infact the exponent of orthopathy and naturopathy are midical doctors who fed up prescribing medicines to pateints and finding no cures they went in search of an alternative methode which is orthopathy means the body know how to cure its problem we just want ot assist that for more details of orthopathy search and visit websites . www.drbass.com www.soilandhealth.org www.newstarget.vom How dare you to blame pharmcetical cos they are running a business and like all other businesses theit aim is also to make profits to its share holders .So what is doing in a correct act they are innocent.they just wanted to give more and more profit to share holders also for assisting them the doctors also get foreing trips lot of money.who bothers about the sufferings of people .we care only about money.and even if god comedown on earth we are not going to change our policy in fact we have got world health organisation and health authorites in our area is also isther to help us bette learn selfhealing.

We abuse our bodies with the food we eat because of the lack of Knowledge about what some of these foods do to us. The medical Dr. don't know because nutrition is not taught in medical school. It takes years to get where we are with our health to need these pills then we expect and demand a pill to cure us and we want it now. I worked in a nursing home with a patient that was stiff as a board. When You went to turn him over to wash his back and it was like setting a board on it’s side. He had rheumatoid arthritic. I didn’t want to be like Walter, so still that if I was bent I would break. 20 years ago I was flat on my back with RA I for one take celebrex for my rheumatoid arthritic. I was told of all the side effect from all the medication I have taken over those 20 years. They were bad for my blood kidneys and so on and so forth. I had to weigh the alternative. Be like Walter for the rest of my life or possible have a shorter life and have a life.. Well I chose the shorter life. Because of these medications with the bad side affect I have been able to thing I wouldn’t be able to do today. I can drive and go for walks with my grandchildren instead of laying in a bed listening to the radio all day. So we have to make our own choices about those side affects.

The frightening thing about all of this, is it is not just the pharmaceutial companies, This is happening in our daily food, and beverages, and products we buy... The only way to protect yourself is to pay attention to the ingrediants of what is in the items you buy and do alot of research on it... It is scary what they market out there. - DNatureofDTrain
