Well 14 days later and I'm feeling great, the cravings are all but an occasional thought. :) I still think about them a few times a day, but I don't want them anymore, I can live without them. I only had one day when I was feeling like I was going to lose my mind and go insane. I'm telling you if it was not for welburtrin I couldn't have quit. and would have eventually killed me. Since I quit smoking, my Asthma is getting so much better, stopped taking inhaler. Stopped from having to sleep with inhaler under pillow for emergencies. Stopped having nighttime asthma attacks and sleep through the night now. allergies is clearing up, cutting down on my claritin and alergic reactions and less common and less bad. I get less hives now, I was getting hives so much it was horrible. I was slowley killing myself, but now I can breathe so much better

I am very happy for you. I wish I could say the same thing. I have broncial asthma complicated with allergies to just about everything. I quit smoking over three years ago and am still sick. My meds have just been increased. I take Singular, Zertec, compuvent, nasoral, and a few other generic named meds. With summer I will be spending most of my time in the house with the airconditioning. I can't tell you how glad I am that you are getting better. I hope with all my heart that you continue to improve and can get off all medication. Have a great day and breathe easy.

i am so glad to hear about this tiggyann. quitting smoking is just difficult at the start. but when you started it and if you really are willed to quit, you can do it... and you are one great example for it. my boyfriend also smoked for 17 years. and after meeting me, he decided to quit smoking. i did not demand for him to do so. but it's his will to stop. and i am glad he did it. and just like you, he is feeling better now. his health is better and i am happy for him. keep it up!

Congratulations! You deserve a big pat on the back and a really big hug. It is hard to give up a habit like that and you are well on your way. It only gets better with each new day. You have many wonderful things to look forward to and a life free of smoke and ill health. I personally have been through this and it is not easy. So to you goes the big star of the day! Keep up the good work and know that we all send you the best wishes! Hugs!

Congrats to you! Way to go. I'm down from one pack a day to max 10 a day, and then will reduce more. I have to do it all on my own, cuz i'm pregnant, so can't take anything. You're lucky your asthma went down. My mom actually started suffering from asthma when she quit smoking and has had two inhalers ever since. Keep going, you're doing great!

Good for you! Quitting smoking is a very hard thing to do. Its really something that I need to think about. How did you get that welbutrin, from the doctor? What is it, a pill, patch or something else?

Thanks. I have to go back to the doctor in a few weeks. I will probably ask him about it. If you don't mind me asking, is it expensive or is it covered under most insurances?

cost $24.00 with my prescription insurance, it's for a entire month. yes, just tell him you are having hard time stop smoking and you hear about welbutrin and ask him for a prescription. Also give the medicine a few days to work before you try to quit, it took me about 3 days before I could put them down.

I am so glad to hear you quit smoking. My son has asthma and he smokes and gags but he won't quit smoking. I only smoked until my heart exploded and screwed up my life. Now my life sucks a bit and my son still smokes. I guess we all feel immortal when we are young. Life is a lot better when you can experience it without weezing through the day. Keep up the good work. :)

well you know I had asthma my entire life was born almost costed me my life right after birth, but we came to florida and got out of the harsh winters of maryland and I somehow did survive, my dad thinks it's a miracle and I went into remission as a child as stayed in remission for 30 years. I have smoked for the past 18 years, but wasn't till 5 years ago, this started getting bad, I swear this is how I thought I would die, and really bad these past few years, and to the point of having to carry an epipen with me so my throat will not close up. My dad begged me for years to please stop, because it's going to bring the asthma back again, I didn't listen and still didn't listen to the doctors, nobody until I was ready and sick of not being able to breathe anymore and the constant fear is this it, is this the mintue I will die? Maybe he is not ready.....suggest he take welbutrin or something like that, because this will only get worse. I know about the gagging, I have done this and it's always worse at nighttime, because your natural steriod levels are low and that is when you are most likley to have the attacks, it drops to the lowest point about 2:00 am .....they also can and do happen in the daytime, but your steriod levels always peak the highest in the daytime, thats why you cough less in the daytime and more at night. I'm sorry to hear about your heart, hang in there life really does get bettter!

I am so glad to hear you are finally smoke free . I wish I could say the same . I have been trying to quit smoking on and off for the last number of years and would like to quit so bad but each time I do something happens to bring me back into the same routine once again . It is true that we don't realize what an effect it takes on us until one day we wake up and realize how bad off we are because we smoke . Congratualations and keep up the good work . One day soon I hope to join you and say that I am smoke free as well .

wow, well I will be praying for them to quit. :) nobody can help him until he is ready to be helped, you can beg and plead all you want but it's like a monster on your back, you know it's bad for you, you know it's making you sick, you know it can kill you, but the fact it's hard to quit, to even think about quitting is hard, you think of what life would be without cigaetees sometimes scary, cause they are like a saftey net, you are fine as long as you have them, but once they are gone, you will think how bad you will miss them.

That is excellent. Many people find it so hard to stop smoking and I'm glad you took the initiative to stop because it was affecting your health. My mother still smokes and just won't quit no matter how much we tell her to, and it's always a variety of reasons why she should. She always says she will but she just continues to do so anyway.

Congratulations! That is my goal for this year also. Me and my hubby figured it out and we would save over $150.00 a month if we quit smoking. He smokes 2+ packs a day. I think it will be harder for him. It is inspiring to hear a good story, so maybe that will help!
