Is there a way to correct our mis-typing or mis-spelling mistakes on MyLot?

Often I find that I mis-type or mis-spell words, but I just cannot find a way to correct them. Then what I can do is to type it again. Anyone who knows how?

If you preview your post before actually posting it, then you are able to read through or put a spell check on it and edit/correct it before submitting it for posting. This is the only way you can do it I'm afraid. It gets a bit frustrating sometime, when you see your post pop up with a glaring spelling error. lol Brightest Blessings.

Oh,yeah. So next time I will try to be more careful not to submit my post so soon until I have confirmed that there are no spelling or typing mistakes. That is really a very good idea since we can do nothing about the mistakes we have made on MyLot. Thanks very much for your advice.

It's a pity Mylot can't devise something a little more user friendly as to posting. It seems to be gone before you can think. You're not alone in making errors in spelling. I do it quite often. Have a good day.

There's no other way to correct a mistype word in myLot. You should have to recognize the word and manually correct it. That's one thing I don't like about this site. Sometimes I could see my posts with several mispelled words on it. Instead of friends, I usually end up typing it as frends. I hope myLot will solve this problem. We are not sure but maybe the next improvement on myLot is a spelling and grammar check.

You know what? I've asked myself the same question when I was beginning on myLot. I think it's quite hard to monitor all of the responses or discussions that are being posted on myLot. I don't think the administrators of myLot will take time to read all of our discussions and responses. That will take forever.

I think your posts contains some mature content. I haven't been able to see your comment.

Thanks for your response. I do hope that MyLot will make some improvements not only in spelling, but also in grammar check. But I just wonder whether the staff for MyLot will be able to read our discussions here. Do you think that they will come and check all of the discussions here on MyLot and find the advice we are talking about here? This is another question I wonder.

After typing the response or introduce a new discussion topic, you should press preview button, so that you can do the correction of all sorts and then press SUBMIT. I generally read the matter and press once for all, the post response button.

Thank you, ssh. I am now much more cautious about that, but not always. Sometimes I feel lazy going back to review what I have typed. Anyway I am making progress in getting to know more of the proper use of mylot, trying to make as few mistakes as possible while typing and ... Thanks again, my dear ssh123.

You have been typing quite well. I too make mistakes and like you is too lazy to go back and correct it and I just leave it as it is because it will not make much of a problem for a reader. I know it is not a work of perfectionist.

There is no edit feature or anything like that on myLot, but I use a Mozilla Firefox browser, which has an inbuilt spell-check, so perhaps looking into something like that would help you out =)

Yeah, right now I am using Mozilla Firefox as well. I love it when the red line shows under the wrong word we type. I got to know this from chengonyc and lkbooi, who responded to this discussion. Now you are the third one who knows this and is using this web browser. Thanks a lot.

I'm glad that there are others, and now yourself who are promoting this browser. My boyfriend recommended it to me and although I was reluctant to change at first, I'm so pleased that I made the change and am no longer using Internet Explorer. The red line is your friend =P

Me too...lol but there's no way to edit, as in if don't chech properly before you post then that's it. Anyways don't be so conscious about it, everybody knew if it is a typo error...members will understand as everyone is allowed to commit mistakes..it's not a perfect world. You can't go over and over to your reply checking for errors. time is gold.

This is one of my concerns too before because I often make mistakes. But too bad ther's no way to correct it even if I hit the stop button. Why don't you use Firefox browser because they do have a auto spell-check tool. When you type here, you could see some red lines that means wrong spelling.

I have been facing that problem as well. Sometimes, because of typing too fast, I created many typo error in my post Therefore I have to check carefully before I submit my response, so that I could avoid the spelling mistakes. It's tedious and sometimes, after checking for spelling, I still miss out some of the mis-spelled word. About one month ago, my cousin advise me to use firefox instead of internet explorer. Surprisingly I found that it has the spelling check function, and all the words that I mis-spelled appeared to have a red dotted underline beneath it. It's very helpful for to submit spelling-error-free response. But it doesn't have grammar check, so I still have grammar error. LoL!

Hello dear cheongyc. It is nice to know that firefox has the function of spelling check. I did not know that. Is it the same with Morilla firefox, please? I am right using this one instead, but I have no idea whether it is the same thing as you are talking about. I have not gone into details of the functions of Morilla firefox, as it is still new to me. I would be happy to try to find where I could use it while typing letters. Thanks for the information, friend.

I don't think there is any means to corect spelling in mylot. you have to check it yourself. It would have been better if there was spell check option in mylot.

Hello subha. Thank you so much for your temptation to responding to this old discussion. I started to use mozilla firefox a few days ago, but I have not found the spelling check inbuilt here. I am right now trying to find where it is with luck. Thank you again, subha.

Sorry as per my knowledge you cannot do this and mylot had till now no such features to correct our spelling mistakes. We should post our responses with most care so that we should not make any spelling mistake because making spelling mistakes reduces our rating in mylot.

Hello jayalaksmi. I did not know that making spelling mistakes reduces our rating in mylot. Thank you for the information. I think that I will have to be more careful while typing so that no more mistakes will be ever made again. Thanks a lot. Good day, my dear friend.

Quite simply - YOU CAN'T! mylot does a great disservice to its members by not allowing the author to at least edit their original discussions. The original author should also be able to delete their own posts if they so desire. Most every other bulletin-board on the net allows authors to edit and delete their own content! On mylot an author cannot add to their discussion until someone else posts a response. Once another member has responded you can add comments to your own discussion and try to clarify statements or correct typos.

I am new here. But I think I get the red color under the words when mis spelt, that helps. But sometimes when the spell check is not there - it gets difficult. Thanx friend for adding me.

Hello dear rhane. I agree with you because I also expect mylot to provide word checker here so that we can avoid making more spelling mistakes and correcting the mistakes we make in spelling. Thanks a lot, rhane.

I know its a old post but i just want to share my views about mis typing..certainly everyone around here in mylot would have faced this problem and felt bad when they see their typing errors after posting..most embarassing errors for me is those i do in typing the topic heading which reflects so badly when i see them and my face gives a blurrred look.. nowadays whenever i complete typing i check it for mistakes and correct them before submitting but eventhough some mistakes crept in while responding in a hurry..i think its unavoidable..

Yes, even though I am very careful trying not to make a single typing mistake, it is still very difficult to avoid making the same mistake again. It is so annoying for me to make mistakes.

After six months here on Mylot, I have got to know that it is impossible to correct the mis-spelt words and I have learnt to be more careful with the words I spell as much as possible. Thanks for your response, dear youless friend. Have a good weekend.

Yea, by this time you could have understood that there is no way for correcting once it is posted, even though the preview discussion is available, most of us dont use the option. I have some times made typographical errors.. such as typing " FOOD HABITS" instead of " GOOD HABITS". Cursing why G and F are situated very near in the keyboard....lol...lol.. Think of a discussion where i have been discussing all the while about Good Habits, but i mis-typed it as Food Habits? What would the respondants think about this? Will not they be totally confused.. lol..) Do you started any topics like this by mistake..

Yeah I often mistype a wrong word and later when it is posted, I find the mistake and I want to correct it, but not always. Sometimes I correct it again for I don't want to confuse my friends unless it a word that may mislead my friend. hehe.

Hi there again buddy. :) I also commit a typographical error too buddy william. :) What I did is to comment my response again and try to correct what was mispelled. But sometimes I seen my comment to my response was another error. Hahahaha! So sometimes I just leave it there as it was. hehehhehe I think our friends here on mylot may just understand it buddy so don't worry so much about it. Everything will be alright. See yah around. :)

I do the same thing as you do. I also comment once again to claim that I have made a mistake in order not to get mylotters confused about the wrong word. hehe. Yes, like what you said, mylotters can understand what we write even if we have some mistakes in it. Thanks for your response again, dear buddy.

Right now, i don't think mylot has auto-correct. All I am doing is check my comments first before posting it. But sometimes, there are still spellings of words that is left unnoticed. So, i still commit mis-typed or mis-spelled.
