If You Fail Is It A True Failure? What Do You Think?

When I hear people talk about others that have failed to do something I think in my opinion there is no true failure. Only those who don't pick themselves up and try again. My friend and I got on this discussion and I ran across something that is really true. Here it is: "They are beaten over the head, knocked down, vilified, and for years they get nowhere. But every time they're knocked down they stand up. You cannot destroy these people. And at the end of their lives they've accomplished some modest part of what they set out to do." ~ Cifford Irving, American Writer and Biographer ******************************************************************* The only time we ever truly fail is when fail to get up again. Everything else is a success story in the making. May you always be willing to pick yourself up and start all over again. What do you think about the above statement. I personally think it is true.

Abraham Lincoln failed many times throughout his life yet he kept on trying and became president of the United States. I agree with you I think that little failures are just lessons to help us succeed.

That is so true. As I read this Abraham Lincoln is the person who came to mind. He is a true example for us to not let our failures stop us from trying again.

well, i'll try to make it real short.. "its never a failure until you give up" you can always fall at certain times.. but you always have the choice to stand back up and try again. besides, it is during those falls that you learn. you learn through that "falling" experience.. and next time you try to do it, it'll be somewhat easier coz you've learned what not to do from your last fall. c",)

I think we have to differentiate between failing at a task and failing at life which it too different things. You can fail an exam, there is no two ways about it, you didn't pass, but you fail at life, if you don't take the exam over and try again, if that exam was important to you, if it wasn't then it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. you may fail at a job and get fired because it is just wasn't the right job or you and your interests and qualifications, but if you never try to get another job again, even if it means going into a different profession, one that you are more suitable for then you have failed at life. Life is a learning experience, we all make mistakes and hopefully we learn from them and we become stronger, and wiser because of it.

I always treat failure as a temporary knocked down at certain moment in a certain circumstance. If we can make a second attempt with improved tactics and fuller force we may achieve something better than before or even could reached the level of expectation. We can repeat this process if we should fail again. As long as we are living and healthy we shouldn’t worry about failure. We only truly fail we have lost total confidence and courage in life.

I also think it is true. I don't think I will ever be a quitter and to me that is the same as being a failure.

Better late than never, so here's my response: no matter what life's circumstance throws at you...keep trying even if it means failure. And if you learned from that experience, took something away with you then you didn't fail after all.
