for the third world country citizens, this is the biggest hassle in wanting to travel abroad. i had the experience in trying to obtain a visa with all the paperworks, fees and more paperworks.. and then the interview, with all the queuing in the embassy.. but it all paid off since i got it.. well it wont be a hassle if your the likes of ayala or a politician.. but its a really hassle for me.. i dont know i have the same sentiments as my fellow "kababayans." the consolation is that we can go to several southeast asian countries without obtaining a visa in the embassy! one can go to singapore or hong kong and obtain your visa from the immigration officer at the airport... but, assuming you have the money, if you want to see th pyramids or the Eiffel tower, paperworks, paperworks and more paperworks!

I got my US visa when I was in grade 5. Me and my sister didn't really have a hard time with the immigration officer. He just asked us where we lived, what we're going to do and where we're going in the US and if we were going to visit Disneyland. After we answered those questions, the officer approved our visas ^_^

i guess your one of those lucky people who got their visas without problems.. but i think its much easier to get a visa prior to the 911 event.

It was. After 9-11, almost everyone I know who were applying for Visa got their applications turned down. Not only was it harder to get Visas, airport security was soooo strict! Damn terrorists. Seriously.

lol... yes you're right... 9-11 event really change air travel including securities... theres the fear of getting turn down with the visa.. fear of a bomb scare?! then if your luck to get a visa, more time is spent with the luggage! well at least you didnt experience these when you went to the us.. ;)
