I've been on regular Met for almost 2 years now. I'm not a diabetic, I have insulin resistance. I also have pcos. I have horrible side effects with the met though. Mostly digestive issues, like diarrhea. I can't eat anything without getting it. The first time I was on it, I lost 40lbs. It took about 4 months for my body to adjust to it. I didn't have as much GI issues with it after that. Then I became pregnant and stopped taking it. My son is now 7 months old. The doctor put me back on Met about 6 months ago but I'm having an even harder time adjusting to it. I've heard that the extended release formula has less side effects. Any opinions out there??

My sis is a diabetic, I'm not sure what she takes but I would think that the ER would be easier on your system because it's supposed to release small doses over time as opposed to a larger dose all at once.
