Should we still mark best response?

Should we still mark best response? - A picture of a puzzled child.

This is not new and I am sure quite a few of you have encountered this glitch. From what I understand from a user who had written to myLot, the response was just to re-mark it. I just resolved quite a few discussions and there are some among them that have already been resolved before. I have to be honest and say that I simply do not remember who I gave BR to the previous atime. Sometimes the user posted to say thanks - if I am meticulous enough to see that, fine, I give back the BR to the same person. This Leads me to wonder - has marking BR become an exercise in futility? Should we still continue to mark BR, only to have them roll back? Marking it once a month is already very tedious. What do you guys and gals think? Why bother to keep wasting so much time re-reading the threads when the BRs are going to be gone the next month? Do share your thoughts, thanks. PS.: Will you start ostracizing me if I grow tired of marking BRs? :P

I will keep on marking "best response", because it helps the person I choose earn a bit more. I think that's the least I can do for someone that has taken the time to give an honest, good response to one of my discussion. Plus, it's good for the morale. It's nice to know someone appreciates you.

Yes, that's why I am not giving up just yet. But the thing is, I wonder if earnings get deducted when BRs disappear. It might even account for why our earnings decrease from time to time. Isn't that adding insult to injury? We waste our time marking, the person gets a bit more, BR disappears, that person's earnings dropped, he gets real upset, you get upset to as you can't decide whether to mark BR again and get upset again, etc.

I haven't checked, but it may be possible that when a discussion is reactivated (meaning that the former "best response" no longer exist), the person you gave the "best response" in the first place no longer exists on myLot, or has been inactive for a very long time (that is how I explain "best response" getting reactivated) so it doesn't matter weather it gets upset or not, I marked a "best response" just because the quality of the response at a given time. Nobody will stay on myLot for life...

I always mark BR at the end of a week. It keeps down the amount I have to do at one time. I know it is tedious to have to go back and re-do some when they "pop" back up, but I do it. I think because I was in another forum before this, and if you did not mark a BR by the end of the discussions' run, it went to voting. Then it would be voted on by the public to determine the BR. I never wanted it to go to voting, so I always did it myself in time. Every discussion had a "life" of 3 days. If you wanted to extend it, you could for up to 7 days I think. It got me into the habit of assigning a BR. ALso our ratings over there were determined by our BR's. I would never ostracize you Wizzy, but I think a good Lord would always reward his humble servants !! :P

I think we should still mark them for the benefit of the person who gave the best response. I hope mylot will fix that darn glitch. I just give the first person I like the br the second time around. and if you mark them after every 10 response, then it would not be such a big task. That is what I do.

first of all this is a no win situation, as you know yourself there are several answers that could be best response but only one best response to give out. So why should I wait and make it harder on myself, you can do it anyway you want to. I see no reason to prolong it. When I write a comment I don't sit there waiting to get best response, and I certainly do not avoid a discussion because somebody else already did. I see by the discussions I make that people still continue to comment after best response has been given because they are answering a discussion they like plain and simply.

Wouldn't you be depriving the rest? It's like adding a postscript to your discussions that say "Please try to be the first 10. Otherwise, no BR for you. Too bad, that's just the way I do things! Don't like it? Shoo off then". :PPP

I did comment on this in another discussion because I found a lot of my discussions come back unresolved. Back when I first joined in December my second discussion was regarding my first Christmas without my father. I received an overwhelming 250 responses to that. The discussion came back to my unresolved discussions. There are now 170 responses to that discussion. I thought that meant that people who may have received best responses were among the deleted members. However, Lord Wizard, in one of the returned discussions I saw your comment thanking me for best response. So obviously my theory is wrong. I did give you the best response back but in other cases I was not about to read through each and every response to see if someone may have commented the way you did. I read through a few and marked best response again. I don't know why this is happening. Like I said, I thought maybe the best response member was deleted until I saw your comment, so obviously THAT is not the reason why this is happening. It does seem futile, doesn't it? And aren't people earning from receiving best response? Did those earnings get taken away? Perhaps that is why people's earning are dropping. Which leads me to believe there is some money saving tactics involved on myLot's part. (now this response is probably going to be deleted - if not the whole discussion). Unless, all the best response mark does is contribute to the popularity and star rating. Whatever the reason, myLot is making some changes and not informing us. Perhaps myLot should be asked about this. Not by one member but by everyone that has been affected in this way.

And to answer your question, I will continue to mark BR. I already went back and remarked BR's but in most cases probably not to the one I originally marked. Sometimes it is hard to choose a BR so + ratings are just as helpful.

I notified myLot and the member that gave me a BR when it disappeared immediately. She responded and re did the BR for me but of course, ML did not bother to respond and I did not see the earnings go back up either. Let's face it, most of us joined with the intent to make some money and then we grew to love the online family we all contributed to. ML is making this very difficult now with hidden deletions and glitches they don't notify us all about. To add insult to injury, we get no reponse from them when we do their job by notifying them of a problem. Very discouraging. :(

tsk tsk - You are in the running for best response!
I can't believe this. 80 responses got deleted from your discussion?? This doesn't sound like a hardworking admin - more like another of those crappy myLot glitches. I have a quote I just made up -- "Life is meaningless enough without myLot complicating things." :PPP

I will continue making best response because sometimes I have missed rating some people, and I like to rate every one that posts on my discussions, so going to the unresolved discussions helps me to fulfill another Mylot duty, even though it is a bit time consuming and I am being very generous with my precious time to be on Mylot lol..hahaahahahaha joke. I love Mylot too much, even when I make a million I will come onto Mylot every day to help every one else here make the same million!!1

Hello, wizard, honestly i have not marked best response for long time since I have suffered from the glitch one month ago, since then I was unable to do this, the discusssion would become unresolved again after i marked it. If you asked me to remark them all,it may need few days to read them again, give comment and choose the best response again. Unless the glitch has been fixed up or i will not think about remark it again.

I've been on the receiving end of the loss of a BR from someone here at myLot. I'm still active, but the BR was taken away from me and given to someone else. The person who started that conversation apologized to me and let me know she didn't do it herself. The only way she knew that she had originally given the BR to me was that I had thanked her for doing so. I check my BRs every few days and go thank anyone who has given one to me. If everyone did that, we'd at least be able to pick the same one when it pops back up as unresolved again. In my case, it's easier for me to go and look through my discussions than it is for you. You have hundreds of responses to most of your discussions, so I could understand it if you didn't want to go back through the whole discussion to re-mark a BR. I would NEVER ostracize you if you grew tired of marking BRs, but it's not that hard for most of us who only get 10-30 responses on ours...LOL.

I know it's not goos to see your discussions again back at unsolved and you spend a lot of time to solve again but I'm sure members that learn use mylot with the right way ,like you, will not change. This is the right thing we must do here, choose best response, even if some never did.I saw you always be from the best members here and you will continue be whatever happen...just because it's how you are...

I haven't noticed the glitch but would be annoyed to have to go back and mark BR, even though I already done so the first time as I'm not going to remember who I gave it to either. I have a few discussions that I find hard enough giving the BR to and having to go through them again would be so time consuming and frustrating at the same time LOL I hope they fix the glitch sooner rather than later so I don't have to go through this :P

Well this is a subject I feel quite bad about as I haven't marked any brs since I went into hospital as I just haven't had the energy or had a steady enough brain!lol I think we should still mark the brs as hopefully the glitch will e fixed soon - although I know how frustrating it is to take the time and trouble to mark a br only to have to go through the same process all over again the following month! xxx

I haven't really started that many discussions. So there wouldn't actually be that many for me to remark. I have had to remark a few of my discussions. I can't remember who I gave the BR to in each discussion so I just mark whoever I think happens to have the best response. If someone new gets the BR well then they probrally deserved a chance for one anyway. I don't know if I will continue to do this but I do think that its nice way to say thank you.

Hi, Friend I found out that if you don't mark best response it will be hidden I know that for a fact. go look in unresolved disussions and you will see. if you didn't mark you should because it will be hidden and you won't get no more responses on the discussion. just trying to help you out friend, that is what I have been trying to tell everyone.

I had some discussions that I had to re-mark BR for. Some of them if I remember correctly had a response removed by mylot because it was either copy/ paste from my topic or whatever mylot considered breaking the rules. I have no idea why people copied my topic then pasted it as a response in the same topic, for a few cents this is awfully lazy ! But anyway I re-marked the BR, I don't see why not. I don't care if the user knows they received BR or not, or whether they thanked me or not. I don't see why I should be concerned about that. I did what I should do, that's it. I'm sure one day they'll have time to see what BR they got. I myself check it everyday but this is just me

This sounds coherent, and I don't think it is bad to do so. I think it is good to give a birth responce once, to give some satisfaction to thoos who have tryed hard to help you, but not twice, since it has no social meaning then. What I am a fraid is if that would change the earnings... But I think none of us can really face this, so it is not fair to ostracising you for that.
