Why U2

yea, i agree, Bono is attacking the root problems of the world like terror, hunger, etc which is poverty. too bad the live 8 performance money all goes back into the hands of the USA because africa owes so much money to the world.

I really like U2 for the what they represent. I have a favorite song, but I like everything I've heard from them.

i love u2 very much and i do agree with you that at first they were a simbol of their country, Ireland, and of the fight for freedom and peace. Little by little their music changed according to their lives and the changes in the political background. But they still have touching lyrics and a powerful sound. and I do agree with one of you who wrote that it is a good thing they returned to the particular sound they created...it is just like a brand name..they are U2 and they play music in this peculiar way of their. I like the fact that their music is often concentrated on great political and social subjects...but I think we can love their music for more than this..because their songs happen to have a special resonance in our lives either being linked to a special event or a special emotion they can create and so on.

Dear punkerstain, I am one of the funs of U2. I really love them, because they are really good. It is strange that they do not discuss it. When I saw this disscussion I said "A! This is a nice subject to talk about". As about the band, every time that I lesten to them I feel very nice. They expreess our thoughts and feelings through their songs. Whatever they have made is perefect. Specially, their last album. Now, about your thoghts, I agree with you. It is not only a melody and lyrics it;s something more. Be continue to listen to them and well done that you here real music!!!

Either everything you just said is true, and Saint Bono should be knighted. Or else Bono is secretly the Anti Christ, which would explain the dorky sunglass choices he wears so often. All kidding aside, U2 was a big influence on me as an artist and were the soundtrack to my life on many a fine day thoughout. A fan in AZ
