Born to poor families is a curse or it is a handicap. In What way the child born to poor is responsible for malnutrition, ill health, lack of education? Can you narrate your instance of what you have seen, how do you look at this problem?

Poverty is a curse in my opinion . the child born to poor is not responsible for this because they donot know about this terms infact 1) malnutrition 2) ill health 3) lack of education. we know the meaning of these words and we thought that they are responsible for thier condition .

Poverty is a handicap because poor people will never think they could become rich and they remain poor.

Do you think so. I have seen lots of people who were poor some years ago, come up in life, manage to get 2 square meals, educate their children and their children get better jobs and from povertyline they move to lower middle class, from there to middle class. If the children do well in education, they even become rich. I have a servant woman whose children are working in Information Technology Industry, working in USA. My carpenter (still works as carpenter because he loves the profession) has 2 children and they are in UK. They were earlier living hand to mouth. There are thousands of constructin workers who were once very poor, now they earn well and soon going to send the children to school and colleges. Bright days are ahead for them.

Thank you for your response, Don't you think that a shift in their thinking, or their children's thinking is responsible for what they are today.

I do not think the people who are in poverty should be blamed at all. After all they are human beings and having come to this mother earth they should earn their living. Unfortunately they could not find one. Most of the time, the employers exploit them, because they are poor and they cannot fight and they cannot go long distances for job. At no stage should we bring in the children responsible for this sorry state of affairs. They are so innocent, they just do not know anything about the system in the world. They are just opening their eyes. Provide them with work and provide them with food instead of wages and they should be able to stand on their own. Give free education to their children and one day the family will not require anybody's help. Gracefully self reliant and self sufficient.

It is not curse or handicap. It is only a situation and one can overcome with hardwork and days will not be the same.

I dont think porverty is a handicap or a curse to anyone. If someone want to get away from being poor, if he/she have a will do to whatever to get away from that situation, I believe he/she can do it.

Thanks maya for your nice response. I was only referring to the children born in poor conditions. What is their plight? For them it is a curse? It is a handicap temporarily? Their parents might have started to move upwards in income level, but present situation? I experienced it in my childhood. My parents couldnot afford a pair of slippers, I used to wear some distinc relatives clothes, little things to buy is like getting moon in hand. I appreciate and agree that parents can move out of poverty if they work hard and willing to come out of it. In countries like Africa, where are the opportunities? People eat people - not in literal sense please.

If work is given to them, they definitely do it to earn their livelihood. Where is the work? In Africa? It is governments that should create work by chalking out poverty allevation programme like infrastructure work, development of water tanks, construction of roads and bridges, social forestry etc. But then where is the money? Foreign assistance money is deposited in the Swiss banks in the name of kith and kin of African leaders for that matter any underdeveloped or developing nations.
