44 Scotland St

Has anyone read the first two books in the series by McCall Smith called 44 Scotland St? They're about a group of people who live in the flats situated at 44 Scotland St in Edinburgh. The character I enjoy most in the series is Bertie, the precocious little boy who can play the saxophone and speak Italian.
There is a third book in the series out now, which I've recently started to read.
