MDS Coordinator The MDS Coordinator educates, trains, and orients staff on the Resident Assessment Instrument (MDS and RAPs); ensures timely and accurate completion and submission of the RAI; obtains the Final Validation Reports for the MDS submission and ensures correction of all errors; retrieves the Quality Indicator Reports at least monthly, analyzes the reports, takes necessary action, and reports the information to the Quality Improvement Committee monthly; responsible for keeping up with regulation changes relating to the RAI and reimbursement and implements changes accordingly; must fulfill the supervision duties of the Director of Nursing in his/her absence; coordinates the DaRT charting process to ensure accuracy and timely completion; tracks RUG's categories and ensures accuracy for all residents receiving Medicare part A benefits; and participates in the screening and admission of new patients. Must possess a nursing degree from an accredited college or university, possess a clear, unencumbered RN license from the State of Colorado, and a minimum of one year of experience as a licensed nurse in a hospital, long-term facility, or other related health care facility. Experience in nursing leadership or education, as well as prior experience in MDS coordination is preferred. Hope this helps.
