When picking someone up for a date, do you take flowers?

Or chocolates or anything else?
I must admit that I have never done it as it seems old-fashioned to me but am I making a mistake?
For the men - would you take flowers when meeting someone?
For the ladies - would you expect flowers or be pleased to receive flowers?
Also for the ladies - would you take a gift when meeting a man for a date?

I don't know if it's old fashion but all women like flowers (even those that says NO).Just if you meet the girl at the street or any place out take just a flower,if you go take her from her home you can buy for her more flowers.At the street is not comfortable have with you much flowers but one is nice and romantic to carry.at the home she just let it there and after go out with you.
Now to give a gift to a man at the first date ....not so good idea.But after some dates it's nice.

I don't think it is necessary to bring flowers on a first date. One time a guy I dated did send me a dozen roses the day of the date. I was impressed I must say! But that only happened once for me. I think if it is someone you are interested in AFTER the first date then bringing or sending flowers is very impressive. it always makes a woman's day to get flowers.

I don't think I would do it for a first date but maybe for later on.
I think flowers are nice in a longer term relationship when they are given when there is no particular occasion and the only reason is that you wanted to do it - that is something I will definitely do in the future.

If a guy is picking up a girl for a date honestly I think it is a nice gesture to bring flowers as a gift. Yes it is old fashioned but it works to break the ice.
I dont see a problem in a girl giving flowers to a guy too. It has happened. If you dont feel right about giving a guy flowers or any gift at all then dont it depends all on the person in question.
