My baby girl took her first steps the other night. We were playing with her on the floor and she was holding onto the couch and she let go and was just standing there for a few seconds and then she took a step!!! Me and Mike were like freaking out! My baby is growing up so fast. When did your babies take their first steps??

Oh, I love the baby stories. That is so wonderful that your daughter took her first step. You will remember this forever! Other memories will fade away but this one will stay with you. I didn't get to film my little girl standing for the first time, but I was fortunate enough to have the camcorder nearby when she finally stopped chair hugging and took off walking by herself around the couch. She walked all the way to our wall, looked at her shadow, and then headed back without help. I filmed the entire event. I think one of the reasons I remember her first "walk" so well, is that I captured it on video. So, guess I'm saying, if you can, have that video camera nearby to get your precious moments on tape. It'll be one of the best things you ever do. I still treasure all those wonderful little firsts of my daughters life. And, I can watch most of them on tape, anytime I want. Congratulations again for you and your daughter. I am sure you are very excited about this milestone. Best of luck for everyone.

My son was about 10.5 months when he took his first unassisted steps. He was walking around some while holding onto stuff for about 3 weeks prior to that. When he took his first unassisted steps, it was actually because the dog took off and left him. lol He had been holding onto her, and my husband walked through the door, so she ran to greet him. My son took three steps and then sat down.
The thing with my son is that even though he knows how to walk, he doesn't do it all that often. He prefers to crawl even still, at 15.5 months old. My neighbor asked him the other day why he didn't walk more, he told her "Woodie Blue (our dog) walks like me!" So I'm hoping that when we go to my parents' house for 3 weeks next month, he will start walking more, since the dogs aren't going to be around.

That is so wonderful. I remember those wonderful moments. Cherish them they go by so fast!! I remember all of my girl's first step but my youngest was the most memorable. She has disabilities so getting her to reach each milestone was a lot of work. The first time she walked she was two and she took 4 steps fell to the ground and broke her arm. The bad thing was she didn't cry but started crawling not using the one arm. It took us 45 minutes of watching her before we decided something might need to be checked out. After all little ones fall all the time when learning to walk. We took her to ER and sure enough it was broken. We also found out added to her other problems she had low bone density. This sounds odd but we still laugh about it. Her sister 2 years older used to jump off of everything and I would say if she reaches 2 years old without breaking a bone it will be a miracle. She never broke a bone yet the one that didn't move much breaks her arm. Go figure. It was a milestone I will never forget and when she got her cast it actually helped her balance and she started walking all over the place. Just a really odd experience with her walking milestone.

Awww...that's such a cute story and one of those moments you are never going to forget. My daughter took her first steps when she was 11 months old. She was playing in her bedroom standing up. All of a sudden she took a couple of steps to get to me. I was so excited I started yelling across the house for my fiance to see.
