Budgetting, how hard is it?

I just noticed I don't really follow my budgetting. I have this columnar where I break down all the expenses, payables etc. Now from that, there's a big amount left for us to add on into our savings. The thing is, I end up wondering where did it all go? It seemed that when the money comes we end up spending for some things that are not in my list. Mom's out there who manages the budgetting at home, any tips to stick to our lists?

I know probably I may sound kind of paranoid. What I do is create a spreadsheet and have some column with " Date, Place, Amount and type" Then, whenever I went purchas anything or perform any payment. I will key in the date that I purchase, where did I purchase it from; the amount that I had spend and is it fell under Grocery, rental, medical, toy or outing" Then, from there I am able to tell how much I had spend in monthly basis and I can control at the same time.

Well that's not being paranoid. That's being meticulous to me and it's a good thing. Maybe I can try that. I normally just remember important purchases or spendings. Well, that's new, perhaps I can try that :). Thank Maehan!

because of having so little money, I am really getting good at budging but I never did all my life. Guess it is not too late to teach an old dog new tricks.
