What is most important link in Friendship

Of all the things that makes for good friends..what do you think is the most important link..What makes your friends special and what one thing if missing would break up a friendships..What is the secret ingredient..in your opinion that keeps friends together so long...
For me it's love..love ..really holds all things together..Not that wishy washy stuff that goes on with those who are head over heels for each other..Although there is room for that type..but love that makes room for the other to be and act and grow ..and accept him/her for who she is ..Love that overlooks and is ready to forgive..
Without love families fall apart and friendships are shallow..Because there's no love we have world at war...

One thing that I find makes a good friendship is someone that if you are having a rough time or in trouble, you can call them up in the middle of the night and they will still manage to talk things through with you. I would like to think that I would be there for my friends in that way, anytime they need someone to talk to.

I agree with you..I think friends should be there for you..not in good times but in bad..friends should never close the door on ya or say they have no time..;)_+

I think the kind of friends like this, stay friends forever, no matter how far apart you live or how your lives change, but for me I have just one or two that I can say our real true friends for life and I love them for it.

I think trust between friends is the most important links. Where is there is trust, there is love...and where there is love,...there is trust. If trust is not there...friendship will not survive. If we have faith and trust on someone...we will continue to support him/her and vice versa.

What makes a good friend to me is one I can trust. I feel honesty, loyalty, and unconditional love is what I look for in a friend. Someone that is Real and has a Good Heart. They know who they are and recognize that everyone has a purpose and some value. Without those things... your just an acquaintance.

I agree trust and loyalty..and love..Love though when present always eliminates disloyalty or dishonesty..If you love someone you wont do anything that is hurtful to them:)+

I would agree with you but also add the loyalty to it. There is a phrase that I try and live to, and one that really touched me and i think is quite apt for friendship:
"I shall to my lord and master be true and faithful, to love all that he loves, and shun all that he shuns."

Well if you truly love someone you will be loyal..so I believe..if you read Pauls letter to the Corinthians. Chapter 13;)
Love does all things that is good!

Hi I would have to say trust, and that could answer all of the questions you have posted. LOL The thing that seperates my "true" friends and other friends of mine is exactly that trust. I know I can trust my "true" friends with anything that I can throw at them(figurativly speaking) and I know that it will go no farther than them. I also know that they will not judge me for what is being said or what I did. I can also trust them to still be my friend if I mess up or if we get into a disagreement about something. I mean if you don't trust friends then it is hardly a relationship.
