I just received an article in my email from WebMD about the approval from the FDA for a birth control pill that pretty much eliminates the "monthly aggravation". I'll bet a lot of women will be happy with THAT one! (and guys too! LOL) http://women.webmd.com/news/20070522/fda-oks-no-period-birth-control-pill?ecd=wnl_nal_052307

I hated it too. Even coming off the regular birth control pills, it took about 6 months for my body to get back to normal. Thank God I don't have to deal with it anymore....that baby factory has been removed! LOL

I just want to warn you that it could be dangerous. You will immediately get in your menopause and i'm afraid people will regret taking this.Ofcourse i would be happy if i didn't have my monthly period. At first i don't mind it but i mind the pain. In my fathers country they took something which made them get there monthly period because in your period your body will be renewed. So please don't decide immediately to take this.We don't have thos periods for no reasons.

It's true that we all need to weigh the good and bad of taking any medication. What's good for one person may not necessarily be good for the next. Thanks.

Nope I don't like the idea of that. I mean I do complain when it is my time of the month but that is just messing with nature if you ask me and I don't like it. There are just a few things you don't do and one of them is mess with nature. As much as I hate the cramps, bloating, fatigue and just plain being a bee with an itch, lol I don't like the idea with messing with nature. This is just how I feel about these things. I saw the commercial on t.v about it and I didn't like the idea. :)

I'm sure that, even though many women will be happy with it, there will still be a lot of controversy over it. Thanks hon.

Yeah, i was looking into that pill. i need to get back on something...unfortunately, i cannot take that particular pill because of the effect it has on kidneys and my kidneys are already c rappy. i have to be really careful of them. Besides, i can do the same think with the Triphasil i am planning on talking to my doctor about.

Good luck with that hon. I know that a lot of medications can wreak major havoc on the kidneys. I hope it works out for you.

I honestly can't believe any woman in her right mind would even consider this. While it certainly is a terrific bother for us, to stop the natural flow altogether can't be healthy. Thank goodness I don't have to go through it anymore, but If I did, I certainly wouldn't use something like this. We have no idea about the long term problems this can cause. It's not natural.

I definitely see where you both are coming from. But there are those women that have so much pain and loss of blood, and abnormal periods that I think a pill such as this one would be beneficial to them in more ways than one. I know that with all the problems I used to have before my hysterectomy, I would have given anything for it to be stopped, since mine would only stop for maybe a week or so and start again and go for 1-2 months. But I guess we'll have to wait and see how it goes for everyone. Thank you both for your insights.

Thanks for sharing this information as I had not yet heard about this. At first this sounded too good to be true but then I have to wonder if this method would really be healthy. If I hear a little more about this and it sounds safe, you can bet that I will be first in line no try this "no period" birth control. I would be really happy with it given there are no side effects, but not half as happy as my boyfriend!

LOL! I'm sure he'd be ecstatic! But the short testing period makes me wonder too how safe it is. Thanks hon.

Yeah.... I think I'm ok with my monthly aggravation. I'll keep it thanks. Too many of these BC's make me edgie. I can believe they have done testing but there are still unknown factors you have to think about.

I heard that on the news this morning. That there was really no reason for a period & it might even be healthier to do without. I wish they had had this 35 yrs ago - but it probably has corn starch in it anyway.

Nothing about the things science comes up with surprises me anymore. And you're probably right about the corn starch too.

I think it is a brilliant idea. i heard years ago that they could do this and the only reason that women on the pill had the 7 day break with a period is because the people who developed the pill felt that women would want to still have a monthly bleed. Mainly they thought so she would know definitely she was not pregnant and also as they believed women would not feel as feminine without it. I think it was just designed by men and this was their idea of what women would want and maybe these days more women have a say in what they would want in a contraceptive and if that can include ending periods then I think that is why at last it is happening.

And it's about time too. Hopefully, this product will not turn out to be harmful in the long run. I think that that would make millions of women incredibly happy. Thanks so much hon.

I'm not too keen on that idea...I'm in my menopausal years so naturally it doesn't affect me...but it seems any time they come up with some "brilliant" medication for "women's problems" they turn out to be in effect killers...I don't think it's a great idea to monkey around with anything hormonal..for instance...you could offer me a million dollars but I still wouldn't risk taking replacement hormone therapy--and what get cancer later--As much of a pain in the butt--uh, well that's not where the pain is..hehe..but it's more natural for a woman to have her periods. No??

LOL! You are so right! I went through hormone therapy for 2 years before the doctor finally decided to do my hysterectomy, and I know I was miserable. Even on birth control pills when I was younger, I didn't feel all that well the whole time. This is exactly why I posted this...to raise women's awareness of the pros and cons of such products. Thanks hon.

Ok Katlady, you have done it again. Brought us interesting information and I haven't finished spreading the news about the Glade plug-in. Now I made the mistake of showing this article to my husband and he plans on camping out on the steps to my doctor's office to see what he can find out about it....gee, I didn't think I was that crabby that time of the month. But I haven't seen my husband this excited over something in years...LOL

LOL! I bet your hubby did the "happy Snoopy Dance" when he read it, didn't he? I get the feeling that your poor doctor won't stand a chance when your hubby gets to him. ROFL
