Today is my second day off cigarettes...

I really want to quit. Once I quit for a couple of years but a really stressful situation made me go back on cigarettes. When I do smoke it would only be one or two a day but I know this is bad for my health and more importantly for my son's health (although I have never smoked in front of him in a room). If you have given up successfully, long term please share your secret with me. If you have any tips on maintaining good habits I would like to hear them. Or just send me your good vibes to help me stay off nicotine!!

Congratulations! Wanting to quit smoking is the first step towards a better lifestyle. I do hope you will not let down your guard and become tempted again to puff some smoke. Remember that quitting smoking means loving yourself, and not letting yourself become vulneralbe to a lot of diseases associated with it. I am not a smoker, and have never been. But of course I could also be harmed by the passive smoke. So I hope you will continue what you have started. Carry on!!

Good job! Keep it up! I'm wishing you good luck! I have never smoked before so I don't have any pointers for you- but I do have encouragement! Think of your son- He will remain healthy and you will live longer without smoking!

I gave up when I found out I was pregnant, real easy when the smell just makes me barf lol. But after I gave birth, I swear the cravings came back when I was doing something that I used to smoke during, like talking on the phone or driving. So when I'd talk on the phone, I'd grab a piece of paper and draw random things while talking. While driving, I'd blast my music and sing (although I'm awful at it) to distract myself. Good luck!

I have reduced my intake from 30 cigs a day to around 2 a day and am also in dispair as to how to be rid completely. I share your struggle and wish you good luck in your quest

It's never too late get your health back on track :) A good friend of mine who has been smoking since he was 13 finally had the will to overcome the habit and stopped. He's 30 and has been living it clean ever since.

Sending good vibes your way - it's a commendable goal. I think I read somewhere that it often takes more than one (up to seven on average, it said) try to quit smoking, so don't give up!

this is probably around my seventh time, its certainly my fourth serious attempt...so maybe this is it! I really wish I knew how insidious the habit was before starting.

I know it is so hard to quit smoking. Even though it's up to the smoker to quit and under their control, that is all technical stuff. Addictions are just plain hard to break. I wish you the best of luck.

I totally agree with you. After awhile you get sick of the smell and that, but it hits you hard a year later. 6 months - is hard 1 year - is very hard Then you find yourself craving for that next smoke...

That's so great that you've decided to quit! My mom is a smoker and she has no motivation to stop, but I still can't imagine how hard it must be. Good luck and I wish you success.

Just try not to think too much about it. Do something else to while away your time or when you're stressed. Chew on gum or some candy while you're at it. You can do it! It was hard for me at first (I was a chain smoker in college up to my first 2 years of being a professional) but it's not impossible ;)

i am a nonsmoker but i say, i am happy with your development. being smoke free for straight two days isn't a joke. so, i am proud of you babykay. my boyfriend had been a smoker for 17 years. but by the time he met me, he decided to quit. i did not demand him to stop smoking. it was his free will to do so. he even surprised me one day that he finally did it. and i was really happy and proud of him. i asked him how he did it and he said he just had loads of determination to quit and he had me as my inspiration. he took one stick per day in his list and he finally reach the "zero" stick day. and since then, he never smoked. as for you, you are doing good already having your son as your inspiration to quit smoking. just keep up the will alive and one day, you'll be smoke crave free, too.

i'm not a smoker so i can't really give you any useful tips... but i can only wish you luck as i know that it is very hard to quit smoking... it takes a strong will and determination to be able to make someone quit smoking... i hope that you will stick to your will and good luck...
