As many of you have noticed everybodies Star rating was dropped this morning and I have seen a lot of conversations about it, this is not another one. What I was wondering is, do you think that all of the mylot members are involved in some sort of social experiment to see how people react to certain circumstances. I have been a memeber since the inception of mylot, I know my discussions are not that high, but I start more discussions than I apply too, anyhoo, since I have been here I have seen people have money taken out of their account, while others got extra, I have seen discussion just disapear, I have seen the rules apply to some but not all, I have seen the introduction of the stars and how people react. Socially, it is great to watch, do you think that is the real purpose of MyLot, to see how we react to stress?

I think Mylot brings out the worst in people, because people get so greedy, they dont even care what they write, the just go on. Just for the money... Am I wrong?

I think that some of the members are here for the money yes, but honestly, I think that the majority of them truely like the conversation and interaction with other people.

I personally agree that it is a great place..... but who doesnt change priorities when you find out about the money? I found myLOT through a get rich quick thing... I dont know how many others did.

No, i dont think so. Trying to analise someones stress levels, their thinking and their attitude is very difficlult or even near impossible to do via Mylot. People will react differently to what happens on the internet or on a site like this one to how they would react to a real life situation that they had to deal with. I dont know whats going on with mylot at the moment but im pretty sure we are not a social experiment of any sort.

Wouldn't that pretty much sum up the experiement. Maybe they are trying to prove the difference between real like and internet life. There are definet distinctions in todays society.

But my point is that to go to this much trouble to set up this kind of website with so many users to gather data on people based on comments they make on a internet forum is not going to reflect them in their REAL light. Although, i can see your point but i still dont think mylot is a social experiment of any kind.

That is definitely a funny idea and one I had not thought of. I am sure the more mundane reason is that some sort of system restore had to be done and it has restored the stars back to an earlier date, that's the extent of my technical knowledge. I guess social experiment is much more interesting reason though.

This is the first time I have been an 8 so a restore does not work. If you were a 10 you are now an 8 if you were a 9 you are now a 7 and so on. I can't image a system problem being that methodical, I a sysadmin trust me when things go bad it is more random.
