Thinking about realestate classes

I am thinking about taking a real estate class to become a realtor and was wondering if there was anybody out there that had some advice or experiences they could tell me about. I know its a full comission job and that scares me. Any opinions would be helpful thanks.

I have a friend who went into this trade about 20 years ago. Things were very hard for him at the begining. But he is genuine and honest and built a good reputation and makes about $2000 net profit a month now. When he began it was about $100 a month, not even enough for food.
