. . . and I'm concerned about managing my work at home tasks while caring for my five, six and seven year old. Any suggestions for finding the balance without neglecting them? I have a list of activities, but I also have a list of responsibilities . . . if you're in a situation like mine, how are you solving the problem? If you're not in my situation, but have good ideas . . . please share them! :)

can you afford to put them in a summer day care? a summer camp? can you afford to hire a teen for a couple of hours a day? how about family members near by? i am fortunate that my kids are older...but my 14 year old will be gone for part of the summer and although i only work (outside the house) a few hours a day (4) i don't want to leave my 10 year old alone, so she will be going to 'camp grandmas' ...i am fortuate that my parents live close and love to look after them...my dad has a free pass to local swimming holes and my mom does stuff with her like colouring etc...

Unfortunatly, there are no extra funds for daycare or anything like that. As far as camp goes, we're dealing with two different custody/visitation arrangments (my ex's time with my kids, my boyfriend's ex's time with his daughter), so that isn't an option either. It's too complicated! LOL Family is absolutely frustrating - my oldest is seven and he has NO IDEA what it's like to spend a day alone or a night at gramma's house because she says she can't handle the kids. This doesn't surprise me because she never really did much with us when we were younger. I've leaned on friends from time to time, but they've all made it clear that they don't want me depending on them. It's frustrating, so I have to figure out to make everything work while relying on only myself. I wonder all the time if that's even possible.
