This is what I found on the subject at http://www.anxietypanic.com/ Anxiety is a normal reaction to stress. It helps one deal with tense situations in the office, study harder for an exam, keep focused on an important speech. In general, it helps one cope. But when anxiety becomes an excessive, irrational dread of everyday situations, it has become a disabling disorder. Panic attacks are sudden surges of overwhelming fear that that comes without warning and without any obvious reason. It is far more intense than having anxiety or the feeling of being 'stressed out' that most people experience. One out of every 75 people worldwide will experience a panic attack at one time in their lives.

this is the perfect description of both occurrences. it is one's anxiety which causes him to prepare for the coming of a long lost well loved friend. it is what makes a student come up with a well prepared report. an executive of a large company moves all of his subordinates to come up with a good presentation during corporate meetings. anxiety is a feeling which is desirable. it is akin to stage fright. panic is something which no one will desire to happen to him. this is the kind of feeling that makes one at a loss on how to cope with situations.

Panic Attack is when someone "panics" and an "anxiety" is something which brings it on. such as if they don't like paper bags, that would trigger an anxiety attack. ~Joey

panic attack. when this happens to somebody, he is at a loss on what to do when a certain situation exists. this is the kind of attack which makes one lose good reasoning in dealing with problems and situations. anxiety is a feeling which persists for a considerable period of time. like when one is anxious to see a friend who is coming over next week. he is excited and anxious to see the friend. when we get anxious when we are about to deliver a speech in a speaking contest or engagement. the feeling drives one to make complete preparations for it and one will even not only do research work and visual aids, he will also do some exercise presentations in order to make to come up with a good one. in other words, anxiety is good for us whereas, panic can be devastating.

Anxiety is uncertain & pre-time of panic... Something wrong may happen that creates anxiety. Usually panic is certain & it is next stage of anxietment. When something not only possibly but also certainly dangaour then it is panic..
