Poi comes from the root of the taro. It is a part of the potato family. In the old days, poi was used as a paste or glue. If you saw or tasted poi, you would know why they used to use it to glue things together. It's sticky if you don't add water to it. It has an undescribable taste. If you are from the mainland then most likely you have not tasted poi, but it does take some time to get used to it.
If you had poi, share your opinions about it.
