Why we seek alternative news via the internet...

Could it be because mainstream media only covers what they want in order to influence the public unethically? I think so. I ran across a video of a young lady who has uploaded her thoughts into this satyrical YouTube video. I must say she didn't say anything that I could disagree with. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8rsMhQUFkA I challenge you to watch this video then explain to me why you think she is right or wrong.

We seek alternative news because normal life is boring. We always want something to entertain us, but something beyond what we have been used to. Alternative news is almost always fun, and provides an escape from the usual.

Thanks for answering the question you thought I was asking instead of taking the challenge actually placed in the discussion.

Well, you did ask a question, sort of...:) I'll watch the video when I get home. I don't think I'll be allowed to do that at work :)

I think she is right about what we are shown. Do we get to pick who or what we want to see in the news??? Do more people want to know who ron paul is and what he is saying? Why should anyone be left out and why should some get more exposure then others? I have to agree that his voice has a right to be on the news as much as anyones does. No matter what , it is suppose to be a free country and you dont have to agree with him but its his right to speak his mind.

Oh my God!!! She's soo precious! I never heard another one of us old ronbots to say all those things so adorably. I declare her our official spokesman! XD I'm kidding. I'm actually wondering if she's open to having the job. I mean she's so adorable. If she was speaking for us Ron Paul supporters, I bet people'd finally start listening completely. Not only halfway, which we've managed finally now. People shouldn't be able to resist the cuteness.

She impressed the hell outta me too. I still see that vid going around myspace once in a while. It is a good one. Speaking most of our minds really. and cute & sensible does attract more attention than some of the moronic support vids I've seen lately, lol.

Since the upsurge of the media back in the '70s, I have seen the manipulation of "information" in TV news broadcasts and I have been urinated off about it ever since. The sensationalism and ratings competition, along with purposefully construed coverage, has made me generally give up on knowing what's going on via TV news. But thanks to the net becoming affordable for virtually everyone, anything I hear or see I can now reference or research for myself. She mentions one of the country's greatest ignoramuses who was in favor of eliminating the Spotted Owl for industrial gain. Having long before having interest in forestry, I researched the situation myself. Construction was on the rise but not enough to empty the amount of board available in the yards. And this of course created an over-growth condition in the managed forests the the lumber industry has. The lumber industry was in a slump because demand did not meet supply at that time. Yet, the ditto heads were all for the privatization of Federal forest for the lumber industry. Just an example of how dangerous it is to let others do your thinking for you. I completely agree with this "acid head?" (lol) point of view. We need to be responsible for our own future. We need to put some effort into knowing what is going on in our country. And once armed with real information, we need to take what action we can to make the changes we deem necessary and not just let the self-serving media giants tell us how we should be. This nation was founded on independent thinking and needs to return to it. After all, the Constitution reads "We, the people..." not "We the sheeple..."

Damn skippy! Wanna hear the latest? McDonalds has finally cheated me out of my occasional BigMac! They are purchasing their beef from South America, which is not obliged to be FDA approved. What, suddenly we don't have enough beef here? Bull. There's plenty off hamburger in the meat cases at the grocery stores. If there were a meat shortage, we'd know about it. I think it's time we stood up. More sheeple are awakening every day. Spread the word and wake the sheeple.

Argentina doesn't regulate what their cattle eats at all. Herbicides and pesticides used on the grass the cattle eat can effect the beef. It's all about greed, imo. Please come back with that research, I'm very interested in what you dig up.

Hmmm. If it's Argentinean beef, it's an upgrade. Unless things have changed, their beef is 100% beef - that's it - beef. USDA "100% real beef" allows up to 7% filler material which can consist of bone fragments, hairs and other stuff I will not mention. Yes, it's 100% safe, but it is not 100% beef. Now I gotta go look to see if things are still the same. Go have your Big Mac! While you're grubbin', I'll be researching on an empty stomach. Ok. I'll be using some liquid help. The kind that's supposed to make me wiser. BTW... HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

I can understand that. That's pretty much the reason I read our local rag online, because when they are reporting things about accidents and whatnot that affect the community, one doesn't have to wait for the press to run tomorrow morning to find out the updated news.

We seek alternative news to find what we want faster. We also turn to the internet to find support for what we want to believe, since the internet has evidence to support all positions.

Couldn't be because they aren't covering issues and candidates in a one-sided manner could it? Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.
