I also use a variety. Red Heart is a good one because it has a lot of colors to choose from, includes "no die lot" types, and is inexpensive. For some projects I prefer the really soft yarns. They are more expensive, but the result is often worth it. Lately, though, I've been doing more work with crochet cotton. I have some pouches that I make which incorporate beads. I truly enjoy making medallion-style tablecloths. But, they take a long time to make and are difficult to sell (because of price, mostly). Sugar & Cream is a really nice cotton to use. I've made placemats from this. Currently I'm working on designing some Christmas stockings that use it.

I just love the no dye lot Red Heart Yarn, that way if you need more you don't have to worry about matching the color. I have never used cotton to crochet with, but one of these day's I will do a project in cotton yarn. do you sell your craft's that you make at craft fair's? I have heard about etsy.com where people sell their craft's online that they make. you might like to look into that and see if it's some thing you would like to do.

Same here, there isn't any craft fair's near me. they do have some but I would have to drive one hour away and with the gas price's way up now I would be spending all my profit's on gas. I am thinking about getting a page on etsy.com soon, just have to get my thing's together and take picture's. hopefully I will be able to get a new camera some day as mine is only 2 pixel and do's not do close up's that good. Every one say's that I do good work, I make baby afghan's,pot holder's,etc.

No, I don't go to craft fairs. There really isn't very many here, for some reason, and I don't like to drive much. I have thought about selling online. I have even looked at etsy.com. I may actually open a page there eventually. I need to get a better camera, though. The one I have only does 1 mega-pixel and the small details just don't come out. Truthfully, though I'm told I make very even stitches, I'm not a very advanced crocheter. I'm still learning. Someday I'll try Irish Lace. I've made some nice doilies, but always from a pattern (though I have made adjustments to a couple of them).

I don't crochet, but I know a lot of people that do like to use a type of crochet cotton called Sugar n Cream. I think it's cute. Have you ever heard of it?

I have never heard of sugar n cream. I am not fond of making projects with the cotton. I don't know why, but I just don't feel comfortable using it.

I mostly use #10 or #20 crochet thread for my projects. I crochet better with thread than I do with yarn. When I do make yarn projects, I love the Lion's Brand yarns. It's expensive when I want to do an afghan, but it's so soft and luxurious, so it's worth the cost.

I use Red Heart most often, because it's so inexpensive. I have a hard time justifying to myself buying more expensive yarn, unless I have a very specific project in mind. I can't resist Lion Brand Homespun, though, because it makes the softest stuff!

I hate buying expensive yarn also, the cheaper yarn do's just as well. I have never used the Lion brand though, will have to check it out to see if I like it.

I agree 100% with red heart yarn....It has the best texture. And it comes in so many bright colors. Wintuk is good but, but overall, I prefer red heart
